My better half is getting me an AR. Have not worked out all the details and particulars yet.
When I do I might let her in on it...
Not really, she'll see it when I get it home. I'm considerate that way... I know she would rather only tell me once how I don't need it. :fire

Besides AMD65, a second Glock 26, and a 10' Mesh Satellite Dish ..

I bought 3 new computers from Dell and HP

The HP is twice as fast as the Dell
Dell have the Intel 3rd Generation i7-3770K processors (these aren't as great as I expected) (4 real cores pretending to be 8)

HP have the AMD FX-8350 Processor (8 real cores, 7 used for Programs, one for services) (these are awesome, but higher wattage)

A processor with 8 real cores (AMD) working 24 hours, does 8 days worth of work ...
One with 4 cores (pretending to be 8) (Intel) does 4 days worth

My World Community Grid/ Folding/cancer research etc results https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/s ... _Angel_Pat" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

NOTE: 11/20/2012 results only reflect today's results *so far* ... it's just 10 A.M.*so far*

intel i7-3770K
DATE Days/hours worth of work # of results
11/20/2012 0:004:14:17:45 30
11/19/2012 0:005:12:11:36 41

AMD FX-8350
DATE Days/hours worth of work # of results
11/20/2012 0:004:03:58:53 61
11/19/2012 0:006:02:53:34 90
11/18/2012 0:009:16:53:43 117
11/17/2012 0:006:04:30:38 112
11/16/2012 0:010:19:36:50 148
11/15/2012 0:005:13:59:21 130
11/14/2012 0:008:07:29:35 171

AMD FX-8350, AMD's best, is a MUCH better processor than intel's best

(These computers, except one will be gifts to family, and will run cancer/medical research in the background etc

=================================

Edited: I need to run more tests, World Community Grid uses ATI/AMD GPUs but not Nvidia GPUs on graphics cards ... so perhaps it's the ati/amd graphics card helping out in the AMD processor machines... I need to put an ATI/AMD graphics card in the intel machines instead of the nvidia video cards and see...

What happened to the HP..might be better off just replacing the part than buying a new laptop.

Be careful what you wish for....I think the only way this can happen at this point would result in President BIDEN! :eek6 :cryin :confused5 As hard as it is for me to say, that may be worse!!!! :mrgreen:

I don't think it would be worse at all. Biden is a buffoon with no political power. At worst, nothing at all would happen for the rest of the term. And at best perhaps we could make some headway against a joke of a president. "King Hussein the first" is both evil and dangerous.

All I want for Christmas is a DeLorean DMC-12 with a built-in flux capacitor, so I can go back and reverse the events of 6 November, 2012.

And a new Sig 2022.

BSOD. It just did all this in March and I spent almost two hundred bucks having the OS swiped clean. It recently started running really hot (even with cooling fans) Then started the BSOD a week ago. Did a system restore to back before it started messing up but it didnt fix anything.Could be battery going bad but I don't want to pour any more money into it. We have an even older Dell desktop so I am going to limp along with it and my iPad til after the holidays then get a Mac.

Dang..If you formatted the OS then it prob is a hardware problem. I've been in the same situation, just got lucky the manufacture accepted the warranty. Just start saving. There will always be deals for laptops with a variety of different specs for what you plan to use the laptop for.

@songbird - get a new machine. I had a HP laptop that I bought 5 yrs ago. It did the same thing as you. I replaced the motherboard, which fixed it for 95 days. I know 95 because the warranty was up in 90. I found the same make and model at a pawn shop for half the price of a motherboard and transfered all my info to the new machine. Around 6 months later, that machine did the same thing. I looked into it some more and found that a lot of people see having the same issues. I ended up getting a different brand and have not looked back.

Let's see... Wife is about to pop out our first child...I want a house outside of the liberal Travis county area... I don't want to worry about doctor bills or any other bills... SBR upper and suppressor for my AR... A new car...and never work again a day in my life... So either a winning lottery ticket or I want the government to pay all my bills for me (and give me the upper and suppressor)....neither of which look like they will happen...

All kidding aside I want my daughter to arrive and her to become a happy healthy baby with minimal complications on my wife's side and the ability to be the best parent I can be...
