I posted in another Waiting Room post but thought I would throw this in here as well.

My application officially went in on December 18th but my class wasn't until January 18th and my paperwork submitted via email on the 21st. I figured that would justify a post in the January apps thread.

I spoke with a person in the CHL office today. She said they had 5000 new applications in just this past Monday alone (covering the whole weekend.) As far as my status, she said they are currently working on emails from the 18th of January. Mine, being the 21st, should be processed by friday and then my status will change on the website.That's less than 2 weeks from day I submitted and seems much quicker than I anticipated. The lady that assisted me said they have been given permission to work overtime in the CHL office. Sounds like they are just getting hammered.

UPDATE: just a couple hours from posting here I received an email saying my information was received and is being processed.

Dec 18 - online application submitted
Jan 03 - fingerprints done
Jan 19 - Class taken
Jan 21 - submitted all forms electronically via email
Jan 28 - started checking online status multiple times a day

Patience is a virtue.

Jan. 23 - Class Taken & Fingerprints
Jan. 24 - Mailed all documents
Jan. 25 - Received by DPS
Jan. 29 - Emailed documents after seeing here that that was an option
Feb. 6 - Received email confirmation that documents were received."We have received the documents you attached to your email.
These will be forwarded to a specialist for review and/or processing."

I wouldn't beat yourself up over the time on submitting stuff online. It looks like the time frame has equalized now. I submitted all my stuff online as well and I didn't get updates until around the same time as some who snail mailed them. Here is my timeline.


Dec 31, 2012 - Submitted online application
Jan 8, 2013 - Fingerprinting completed
Jan 9, 2013 - Checklist, CHL-6 (w/ request to use DL photo), CHL-100 uploaded to DPS website
Jan 16, 2013 - Email confirmation stating docs were received
Jan 27, 2013 - Background check under review

That's a little discouraging. I mentioned above that I spoke with a CHL worker today and she said they would get to my email within the next two days. I was under the impression once that happened I would see a status change. According to your timeline it could be another week or two before that happens. Bummer.

Well, they did state they are working overtime now so maybe they can now process them faster.

I posted a different thread with my timeline before I read this one, but I'll jump in here anyway.

Online application - 12/23/12
Fingerprints - 12/28/12
CHL Class complete - 1/12/13
Packet mailed - 1/17/13
Current status shows still waiting on documents.

I know everyone says be patient and don't check the status site every day, but I do anyway.

It looks to me that it's taking exactly a week after submitting docs online to get an email confirmation. I sumbitted my docs last Thursday so hopefully I get a reply tomorrow. One of my fears is having to wait a couple weeks only to find out that they didn't recieve them. Then I'll be pushed back further down the line.

Status changed from waiting for materials to under review 01-23-13
Status changed to background complete, pending manufacture 01-28-13

I'm thinking you will receive your CHL in March since you have at least 1 state holiday, and business days are 5 per week and February is a short month.
