Yup, except that 30.06 locations would still be off-limits.

I am ready (as I believe that many many others are) to pile on the e-mails and phone calls. I am certain that it has been a huge amount of communication by concerned citizens to their representatives (both parties) that has forced the continuous "modification" and toning down of what I believe to be purely emotional and irrational attempts in Washington to further curtail the 2nd amendment. I am certain that if enough of us express our support for HB3218 here in Texas, we can help to take another step in the correct direction.
Many of us wore the uniforms of our military services in times of conflict to protect the rights and freedoms of all. It is time we stood up and made it known that we are part of that all and that we want our rights and freedoms respected too.

Wow. Just wow.
So as for schools, I suppose a private school could post 30.06, but a public K-12 school or college could not?

In response to Charles' Call-To-Action (
LINK) I've emailed Joe Pickett and will also fax him the following. Feel free to copy/modify/etc. if that makes it easier for you to get the word out...
eMail Joe Pickett here:
http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/me ... istrict=79" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just click the blue email button.
After you hit submit, the next page asks you to CONFIRM.
Be sure you confirm on the second page, or your message will not be sent.
Dear Mr. Pickett,
I write today to ask for your support of HB 3218, "relating to the places where a person may carry a handgun if the person is licensed to carry a concealed handgun."
Texas CHL holders are sixteen times less likely to commit a crime than is the general public and seven times less likely to commit a crime than are Texas peace officers.
It's time to remove the restrictions on where we can defend ourselves. These restrictions make it more safe for criminals and less safe for honest citizens.
Please schedule a public hearing and committee vote on HB3218 at the earliest opportunity. I ask for your vote in favor of this Bill, both in committee and in the full House.
Thank you.
Regards,
RoyGBiv
