Yes, he posted in another thread that his daughter was fine, but had dropped her cell phone in the rush to exit the school.

Sorry, I did not want to hijack this thread so I started another thanking everyone for their prayers. I finally heard from my daughter last night and once they let them out of their classroom, in the rush she had dropped her phone. Not sure if she has retrieved it yet but she called from her house. I'll be glad when she graduates.
Again, a big thanks to everyone for their prayers.

Megyn Kelly interviews TX Senator Dan Patrick and one of the guys that tackled the psychopath.
Patrick is a co-author of one of the Campus Carry bills this session (SB 182).

A little disappointed that the student comes out against Campus Carry, but Sen. Patrick does a great job of turning that around at the end.
THANKS! Senator...
ETA: Sent him an email to thank him..

I saw the interview, but I also noted that Megyn mentioned the proposed "compromise" in the U.S. Senate and "Internet" sales. State Sen. Patrick should have at least asked, "what Internet sales are you speaking of?" Or, words to that affect. It would have frozen Megyn. Now I like Megyn, but as with most, if not all, talking heads in the media, they are very ignorant of the facts when it comes to guns.
I have heard
no one on our side challenge the "Internet" statements made with respect to background checks. (If some one can point me to a quote or interview, please do, as it will help my blood pressure.) That tells me they are either ignorant of the issue, or believe that no background checks exist for Internet gun sales. In fact each time the
vast majority of pro-gun politicians are confronted with lies and distortions by the other side, they
fail to dispute the statements. What it shows me is that
most pro gun politicians are just as ignorant of the facts as the anti gun politicians. Heck of a way to win an argument.

The headline on the USAToday was "mass knifings are rare" or something like that. Of course the point of all of this was that this story was next to the story on the "vote" (to ban all guns) that may or may not be coming up for a vote. They put this small side bar story there to point out that mass shootings happen all the time, but mass knifings are rare.
See if we ban guns, there will not be any school violence as mass knifings are rare.
Of course nothing was said that of course this was a gun free zone, so no one could protect themselves, being again that this was Texas and everyone has a gun except for this one spot, where it is illegal.
Also naturally if you ban all guns won't there be more mass knifings, or mass bombings, or mass poisonings, or mass arson, by these same wide eyed, hungry for fame, psychopaths who now can't find a gun.
Oh sorry, they will be able to still find a gun. Its just the legal guns that will be gone.

First reports are the knife used is a scalpel.
I think the college lobby is going to be too strong to get this passed.
The campus rapist lobby is very opposed to campus carry for obvious reasons.

I could swear I saw a news article that said that the police were searching cars and people for weapons before they were allowing them to leave the campus.
I imagine that could be an issue for someone legally carrying a gun.
Though TX law bans carry on campuses, I believe leaving a gun in your locked car is legal.

Texas law does not ban carry on campus for CHL holders, but there are restrictions. Also the MPA allows for carry in your vehicle. School policy has nothing to do with Texas
law.
Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a):
(1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution;
(1) "Premises" has the meaning assigned by Section 46.035.
(3) "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

I may be confused, but to me it reads like the law prohibits the carrying of a concealed handgun in college buildings, but allows you to leave it locked in your car.

MPA does not exempt you from the Federal law prohibiting having a firearm within 1000 feet of school property . Neither does the concealed carry license of other states exempt you. This is one of the advantages of getting a Texas CHL over "car carry".
Only a Texas CHL allows you to bring a handgun within 1000 feet of schools (not)including universities . You can not carry it into any buildings or into any school sponsored events going on.
Edited: the 1000 ft rule for the GFZA is for Elementary and Secondary educational institutions as the next response points out

The GFSZA states:
Definitions
Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. ยง 921(a)(26) the term "school" means a school which provides elementary or secondary education, as determined under State law.
I could be wrong, but I don't believe university or college is "secondary education," unless the State of Texas considers it as such.
Webster, and other dictionaries, defines Secondary School as,
Definition of SECONDARY SCHOOL
: a school intermediate between elementary school and college and usually offering general, technical, vocational, or college-preparatory courses
