I'll tell you what, they can take all the pictures they want of my license plates. But they will only get a PICTURE OF 100 dollars sent back to them!

I don't know how much weight the red light cameras actually have, but according to the story he paid up. From what I've read here, seems he didn't need to even send a picure of the money.

I know a guy who inherited a car and never changed the title. He just keeps paying the renewal fee and they keep sending stickers.

Maybe, but this is Dallas we're talking about.

Yeah...but they didn't want any government record of them asking... ;-)

scare tactic- it's just a civil matter, not criminal.

Minor technical correction. It does not eliminate the red light running. That is why they start a delay before the green, leaving the lights red in all directions. What it does is stop accidents caused by red light running though. One of the problems that causes accidents is the car that runs the yellow light as it turns red and the other car jumps the red light as it turns green. Delaying the green stops the early jumpers.

My experience says this is the very best solution. And I agree with you on why it is not implemented in some cities. Since not every place has cameras, that does not explain why it is not done everywhere. In my conspiracy theory moments, I tend to attribute it to more malicious motives, but I don't really think so. I just can't come up with any valid reason no to do this.

I got hit with a red light ticked because they took a picture of the wrong car. I was sitting in the middle land at the intersection and a car that is the same make, model, and color of mine rolled through the red on a right turn. They took a picture of my plates even though I was stationary.

That's why they are supposed to have a video along with it to see who was actually moving through the intersection.

I got hit with one of those when I was making a right turn. The light TURNED YELLOW AS I WAS MAKING THE TURN...I never saw any red. Didn't even know anything about it until the thing showed up in my mailbox. I was under the 35 mph speed limit because I was turning, not like I hurried to make it or anything; the yellow must have been VERY, VERY short, indeed. Now, I wonder why that is? Because it sure wasn't to increase public safety. I'm with Pawpaw on this one.
