You obviously have no clue about what the very high costs are associated with running a reputable HVAC company! Nobody stuck it to anyone. Try running a business for a living then get back with us. My company didn't change that motor but speaking as a person with 30 years of real world experience as a professional HVAC technician and business owner of fourteen years, they netted about fifty bucks off that motor... If they are lucky and it doesn't have to be changed under warranty in a few months.nightmare69 wrote:This will only make you mad but that motor only cost 50 to 75 bucks at the parts store. I do hvac for a living for a school but I know all about how air conditioning company's stick it to the customer.AndyC wrote:$530 today for a new air-con motor for the downstairs section of the house *grumble*
You fellers that work for other people should really think before you pop off about what this or that costs. Aside from the motor we have insurance(required by law to protect home owners), vehicle payments, fuel, vehicle insurance, maintenance. Service technician hourly wages of 25 bucks an hour plus 35% overhead... And they get paid port to port... Not only while at your home. Phones, advertising, building rent, taxes...Personal to answer phones and manage the day to day operations... On and on. All I can say is wow! When I see dumb posts about what one piece of the puzzle cost.
If I said I spent ten bucks at McDonalds for a double quarter pounder meal and an ice cream, would you feel compelled to tell me how stupid I was spending 10 dollars for 2.00 worth of food ? Just think... They didn't even bring the burger to my home for me.

I agree with lightningrocks here. All of the things he lists are correct. I have been in the business for well lets just say over 40 years and the climbing costs of running a business is why I sold my business a few years ago and went to work for "the other guy".03Lightningrocks wrote:You obviously have no clue about what the very high costs are associated with running a reputable HVAC company! Hey lightning, where did you find a tech for $25 an hour? I need a couple.
By the way, has anyone tried to build a car from parts or even paid a mechanic to fix your car? Or how about a plumber, roofer, or electrician? You not only pay for what they do, you pay for what they know as well.

LOL... I'm not saying! You might steal them! I was going on the low end of pay scale to keep folks from deciding they are over paid.RPBrown wrote:I agree with lightningrocks here.
