My property taxes go to pay my local ISD. If they were a " private" business id be taking a longer vacation every summer. Obligation to pay? Public. Cant be posted legally, IMO.
Im not terribly worried about ther incorrect understanding of the statute. Im willing to be a test case on that one if it becomes necessary.
Amen, but just telling you what PISD has told me and others in the past.
Typical attitude of those (the ISD in this case) that feel they are above the law.

And they are wrong, regardless of what they claim and they cannot prosecute anything, yea you might take a ride in cool bracelets but any DA that takes it need and deserves to be disbarred
A Independent School District under the law in Texas because of being elected by the public in the area that they serve means they are a political subdivision of the state(governmental agency), lets rescind all the rules they make about school and remove the school board and elect a different one and see how fast they scream we are a governmental agency and you can't do that. they are libtards and want their cake and eat it too

Actually, Plano's new administration has admitted the signs are unenforceable, but still haven't taken them down.

The company that makes the 30.06 sign for my school is The Texas Association of School Boards.

Found this pdf over guns and schools from the tasb. Check out page 6 of the link below talking about posting the 30.06 at school entrances.

This link should be a sticky on the forum.
Stick a fork in this debate. It's done!

Thanks. Still wondering why the TASB is posting a unenforceable sign in schools. Someone call them tomorrow and ask.

Wouldn't it be redundant for a school to post the 30.06 on the building?

I have asked the same question to the district I work for, nobody could give me a strait answer. If posting the sign makes them happy, whatever, anyone with a CHL knows that the premises of a school is off limits.

Actually, it would not be redundant. Carrying in a school is a violation of 46.03 and a third degree felony. Posting a 30.06 would add Criminal Trespass (Class A Misdemeanor).

Gotcha, got to make sure you add as many charges as possible to CHL holders since they are so ignorant of gun laws.

Actually, I think it is a great idea to post a sign at the door. That acts as a good reminder in case a CHL just has a brain blank and heads into a school building without thinking about the fact they are carrying. If they go past the big sign, then they need to be charged.

Would you support posting the 30.06 at post offices, court houses, and anywhere else that is off limits to CHL holders?

Yep. However, a 30.06 would have no effect at a post office since it is federal property and 30.06 is a state law.

I thought that the sign was created to post private property only.
Problem with the my school are you don't see the sign until after you enter the school. They are not on the entrance doors but on the walls after you walk in. This summer we have re designed all the entrances for every campus to make it where visitors have to enter the office before they can access any other part of the school. Office staff will now buzz people in. Where the signs are now you will either not see them or see them after you have checked in with the office.

Section (e) of 30.06 states
(e) It is an exception to the application of this section
that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is
owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or
other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying
the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.
That portion allows a governmental entity to post if it meets the already prohibited location in 46.03 or 46.035.
As for posting where it is not visible until you have already entered, then that is just poor posting. No different than a 51% sign behind a bar or a 30.06 sign in the bathroom of a restaurant. Until you see it you have not been given effective notice.
