Eating horse is allowed in "dire straights". It is not recommended to eat horse meat because horses are very noble and useful animals. It is your ride in the "Wild West". He will take care of you and get you back home when you need it.

I'm actually starting to like some sushi. However, still not excited about eating raw fish though. If you were to grill it before wrapping it in the rice, then we would be talking good food.
You're making a common assumption; that sushi is raw fish. Sushi may indeed be raw fish, but it is more often, in America at least, smoked. In this case, I cold smoked the salmon (wild caught Alaskan) over a 4 hour period.

Interesting. I was unaware the fish in some sushi is cooked or smoked. Thanks for the info. That may make it easier for me to eat it. I like the flavors but I just have a little hang up about raw fish.
Sushi actually means with rice. Sashimi is raw fish only.

Many moons ago, my mother would cannibal sandwiches: Raw hamburger with raw onion between slices of bread. Salt and black pepper.

As a kid, when I first witnessed her making one these ghastly things, she caught me looking at her with disgust.

She offered me a bite, certain I wouldn't take her up on offer. I bit. Found it wonderful and asked her to make me one.

Raw protein in it's various forms can be quite delicious - with one exception, at least for me: Raw oysters.

I've eaten them a number of times trying to discover why the devotees are so ga-ga about them, as I continue to find them flavorless. People top with all manner things, and I know why. They have no taste. May as well put all that junk on a saltine sans oyster. You'll have the same taste.

Fried oysters are a whole different taste experience, that's to say great!

FYI, the total on this came out to less than $20.
Very good job. It looks much better than my first ... second ... and third attempt. :thumbs2:

Texas housed two of the last horse slaughterhouses in the US. Horses are such different animals than cows on a cognitive level. People in the states were not for eating them. Other countries, however...
