Maybe but I think it's more scientific to compare statistics for stolen vehicle recovery in Texas versus states without front plates like Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma.

Has anyone mounted an organized effort to change this law? Isn't that how we're supposed to do it? I don't see this as a Constitutional issue, state or federal. It's a question of "how much" or "how far", or "Is there a better way?", and that begs for a legislative effort, not a court fight or even civil disobedience.
Note that the law only applies to vehicles operated on public roads. If a car is too valuable or beautiful to display the appropriate plates, it should not be on real-world roads where some uninsured, unlicensed, inebriated clown can destroy it while texting and adjusting makeup.
Research, organize, petition, lobby, wash, rinse, repeat.
For what it's worth, I am very much a gearhead. I attend car shows and cruises, volunteer at some racing events, and tinker with my own old car. Sometimes front license plates get in the way, I admit. I've even relocated one just to see if it made a difference in cooling, and to reduce the time it took to access the radiator, condenser, etc. But I don't really mind having the front plate, and expect others to obey the law or work to change it.

"Look at me, I'm Special, I drive a fancy bougie bougie car so I am rich and therefore above the law. I don't have to have a front license plate".
I had a fella in a BMW pull that on me about 15 years ago when I pulled him over for 85 in a 70 on Highway 70 just South of Sweetwater, Texas.
He got a citation for speeding and no front license plate. He did not contest it in court. I guess he was rich enough that he did not mind paying for traffic citations for the same offenses over and over again.
Texas is a two plate state.
Just my .02,

Is that your takeaway?
Interesting...

Is this directed at me? cause I don't think i'm special. I don't drive a "fancy bougie bougie car". I just happen to like my car a lot and don't want to drill holes in the bumper.

I can't help but wonder exactly HOW that "fella in a BMW" tried to "pull that on you"? Probably let his personal feelings influence his actions and attitude I guess.

I happen to like my money and don't want to pay income taxes...life is full of things we don't want to do.

Do you also disarm when you find yourself within 1000 feet of a school, or do you choose to ignore that federal law?
When you buy a gun from a private seller, do you dutifully mail the sales tax in to Austin?
How many of us have a license plate frame that partially obscures the plate?
You never exceed the speed limit, or roll a stop sign?

Well dadgum. I got a ticket in 2011 for no front plate & I had to pay a fine. I wonder if it was before or after this legislative boo-boo. Also, I remedied it & was not offered an opportunity to pay the $10.

If it was before Sept 1, 2011 it was before the fine was removed. However, there were still locales that were writing tickets and fining and letting you fight the fine issue for the next 2 years.

As soon as they make one with AC, a roof, a trunk, seating for four (or a bigger trunk), and a five star safety rating, I'm sold.

I'm almost positive it was in SEPT/OCT/NOV 2011. I'll review records. Thanks.

None of our neighboring states require a front plate. As a bonus, rumor has it they won't bother sending a red light camera ticket for a vehicle registered out of state to a company or trust.

My comments were not directed to anyone on this board, just me relating an "It Happened To Me" type situation.
The theme of my post was "Texas is a Two Plate State". If you want to legally have just one license plate on your vehicle, move to another state.
If you want to change it to where it is legal in The State Of Texas to have just one license plate, contact your state senator or representative.
Just my not directed to anyone on this board .02,
