At some point one of these incidents is the canary in the coal mine.
Seems we have had a lot of canary's dropping recently.
I'm not in any way blaming the Fort Worth Police Department, however, if I lived in Fort Worth, I would be writing a letter to them asking them to pay more attention the next time they assist the feds on something. They can say no.
I think we all realize where the mindset is coming from that the feds have decided this is ok.
We can only hope in 2014 and 2016 some people remember what the constitution is put there for and they are careful to support people who believe in the constitution and the bill of rights.

The FWPD cannot say no to the feds, that's where they get all their cool toys.

Just sayin' - to me, it's not any different than "enforcing" invalid 30.06 signs at the gun show..... Well, maybe a little different as gun shows are opt-in...

Any other articles on this?
I'm late to the party as all the "govt is out to get me" threads kind of run together so I passed over this one. The original link isn't working, and I haven't seen much else on the story.

Ok I just got in. Just a NHTSA survey. Albeit poorly conducted, doesn't set off any other alarms for me.

Surveys are conducted in malls, on the phone, or on the Internet! Not in the street with flashing lights and badges!
Clearly an abuse of power! Nothing but alarms for rational people!

“'I agree with our citizens concerns and I apologize for our participation. Any future Federal survey of this nature, which jeopardizes the public’s trust, will not be approved for the use of Fort Worth police.'
Chief Jeffrey Halstead
It appears as if they won't be doing this kind of thing again.
I heard this on the radio today and this was the first link I found about it.

would it set off alarms if they made your child late for class? or kept your wife out later than expected? These people had NO choice in whether to stop or not. It was an abuse of power. Flashing lights say "obey me" or go to jail.
Personally, I would really like to know where the other 30 cities are.

They make it sound so sweet and innocent. It may be, but the folks stopped at the recent one in FW said it sure didn't seem voluntary. Maybe that part wasn't explained very well or at all. Also, I don't remember hearing about any of the others This one in FW hit the national news.
