The suicide rate has increased steadily since Obama took office. That's a hard number no one can deny. In the US firearms have long been the predominate method of suicide, followed by hanging/suffocation then poisoning (which includes drugs) The last stats I could find were Firearms 50% Hanging 22% Poisoning 18%. As of 2013 more people in the US die from suicide than in automobile accidents. BTW transportation related suicides were less than 1%.. I can't find the link now or I would post it.

Yep... I came close to whacking myself out the night he was elected. I have become stronger. Now I simply want to blast holes in my TV every time I see him sashay to the podium with his nose stuck up in the air like he thinks he is addressing his subjects. I bet the rate of TV's being thrown out the window has gone up since he was elected.

Like Jim mentioned, if I were going to off myself I wouldn't do it with a gun. The thought of my loved ones having to see my brains all over the wall is more than I can deal with. I would probably do the sleeping pill thing. No mess and when they plasticize my body for eternal placement on my favorite recliner in front of my TV, they don't have to fix any big holes in my head.

This got me to thinking about a public service announcement that I hear quite often on the radio. It talks about the number of deaths from prescription drugs is higher than overdoses from cocaine and heroin.

Take a look at Acetaminophen! A leading cause of liver transplants and #1 cause of acute liver failure. Aspirin may upset your stomach, but at least you can keep your liver! :biggrinjester: Now think of how many Tylenol commercials you see! Where is the outrage

No comment! :rules: Besides, acetaminophen isn't prescription, so it doesn't count.

Living is 1:1 correlated to dieing.

Correlation is not cause.

These "studies" already have a preconceived conclusion. Then the data is gathered and massaged to fit the conclusion. Its a propaganda tool to convince folks who either take things at face value when it comes from an "expert" with framed credentials hanging on the wall, or people who are just far too busy to do a little research or thinking about the subject on their own. But mostly its about creating an alternate "reality" by telling a specific lie long enough and loud enough that it becomes accepted "fact".

YOU put the time in to actually think about the subject and quickly shot holes all in that little theory of theirs. :thumbs2:
Exactly.

Turns out John Lott did end up with a rebuttal to the ABC News piece:

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2014/02/ ... =obnetwork

He does a good job of identifying their numbers and showing how the overall reports fit an agenda, which is not surprising at all given his previous body of work.

Just hearing barry's voice makes my head feel like it is going to explode. If I make it to the end of his last term without stroking out I will be a fortunate man.

You are a very thoughtful man in not wanting to leave your cranium splattered all over creation. In reality when you do the pill thing you wind up losing your bladder and bowels anyway so there is still a mess.

You might want to think about a manly exit method like jumping into a cage full af hungry carnivores like lions - or maybe a pool full of great white sharks. No mess to clean up there.

Just thought I would help you out.

Homicide victims were mostly male, less than 35 years of age, and of racial or ethnic minority status.
Any legitimate study would separate out gang violence as it does not apply to the general population.

There was an anecdote related by John Wayne's youngest daughter about how when Ted Kennedy was railing about "morality" he threw an ashtray (or similar object) through the screen.

I can relate. I wonder sometimes if my neighbors ever hear me hollering bullpucky. For teaching self control in stressful situations, I recommend watching Al Sharptons show. Warning... Small doses only. If you can take it for 30 seconds, it is time to change the channel. Any longer and you risk having an aneurism.
