"A Texas man who was arrested for waving a sign to warn drivers of a lurking traffic cop defended himself in a court by saying his warning was "the same thing as a speed limit sign."
Ron Martin, 33, appeared in court Wednesday to fight a misdemeanor charge of waving a homemade sign.
He was arrested last October after Police Officer Thomas Mronzinski saw him on the median strip of a six-lane highway holding up the sign – he is a sign painter by trade – reading "Police Ahead."
This was dismissed today, wonder if this ruling affected that?
I've always flashed my lights, good to know now a judge says it's ok I guess, lol

I feel the ruling is correct. Regardless of what reason the cops have for sitting on their rumps writing tickets vs working on solving crime, trying to make it a crime to warn other drivers to slow down seems a bit Nazi Germany to me. I was actually not aware it was a ticket offense to flash my lights as a warning. I usually don't do it because I couldn't really care less if a person gets caught speeding...LOL. Maybe they should slow it down a bit.
That being said, people blow down the street behind my house at a constant 15 MPH over the limit. Do we see any cops??? Nope... they are all at the wealthier end of Legacy, west of us. It is Russian roulette pulling out from the two streets in my neighborhood onto Legacy, do we get a traffic signal, nope, they put them on streets on the wealthy end of Legacy for traffic patterns half the amount of ours. Money talks, everything else walks in Plano, Texas.

My commute for almost 3 years went through Westlake, taking their exit off of 35W, and hopping on 114. I can verify they're out there stopping people. The stats confirm they're writing up people.
Their ratio is off the scale! This says Northlake, but I've seen Northlake/Westlake sitting side by side.

Also, the exit for Westlake/Northlake from 35W has a bridge that goes over the top. They'll sit up there & use laser. They drive up on the side walk facing the wrong way so the driver's side is close to the side they're patrolling & shoot laser from the bridge. My laser detector's first "experience" was at that spot. I had never heard that sound from my detector until then!
