I belive the nickle plated sissy pistol was a Taurus PT945. 45 ACP Aluminum frame with stainless slide that could be carried locked and cocked or DA/SA. I had one once upon a time. It was very accurate and had a great trigger. It did howver have a terrible 8-round magazine that was prone to having the base plate knocked off and the rounds, spring and follower dumped on the deck. The grip and trigger were very ergonomic, but the thumb safety was at an odd angle and had some sharp edges. The steel locking block in the frame broke on mine at about 1000 rounds. Taurus replaced the gun with no problem, but the new pistol I received was different in anumber of ways that I did not care for so I sold it.

The PT series of that sort also came in 40 & 9, but I am pretty sure the one in the movie was a 45.

I agree. It showed (in the season finale) the importance of firearms for defense. It would be far too easy for the average LAC to figure out that firearms can be as good in our "civilized" lives now for self-defense as they are for post-apocalyptic town defense, and CBS likely wouldn't stand for that...
