I in no way meant to imply that there was EVER a justifiable scenario for a child to be killed/maimed by a dog - I said as much in my post. I was just surprised to see the breed. It makes me wonder what that animal had been through to lead to such atypical behavior for this breed. I know there are "lemons" in every breed as well as exceptions. I just felt after the story that there was likely more to the situation and circumstances leading up to it. I agree with a previous poster that if this were my dog it would be put down immediately. I likely didn't say what I was thinking well, and maybe still haven't

We have many "critters" from family dogs to larger livestock. We also deal with a lot of kids. We NEVER tolerate aggressive behavior. Animals are just that, and will resort to "feral" behavior in the proper circumstances. Sometimes you don't know what will push them to this point. We do not take for granted any of our livestock's behavior and never leave children unattended with them. We do our absolute best to ensure their fencing is in good order. We also work with them so they are as socialized and handle-able as possible.

I apologize if I implied that any portion would ever be acceptable or justifiable. I just simply felt there was more to the story.

No apologies are in order...to me. I understood, knew and agree with your original comment. :tiphat: The story was, and still is, lacking in substantiated detail, IMO.
