Re: Glock 43
I'll hold a final opinion until I get one in my hands, but I'm definitely one of the many who are less than excited about the 43. I'm a Shield carrier but I don't hate on Glocks for being Glocks. They're great guns and this one will definitely be another great one, but it's just not what most people were expecting IMO. Personally, I was expecting a Glock 36 trimmed down to a 9mm, not a Glock 42 beefed up to a 9mm.

Re: Glock 43
I'm just the opposite. A thinner 26/bigger 42 is exactly what I want. I've tried many other guns but I've shot/owned glocks for years. Can't wait to have this package with the same trigger as all my other glocks.TVegas wrote:I'll hold a final opinion until I get one in my hands, but I'm definitely one of the many who are less than excited about the 43. I have to agree with jmra. But i will wait a year to make sure the bugs are gone before buying one but I will buy one.jmra wrote:I'm just the opposite. A thinner 26/bigger 42 is exactly what I want. Re: Glock 43
I have zero interest in this Glock model.
I don't want a low round capacity pistol.
I'm very happy with my chunky, loaded with my many cartridges, Glock 19.
I find it kind of ironic that so much discussion is made about dressing around your pistol and those complaining they want a comfortable (relatively speaking) pistol.
The trade off for a bit more comfort vs. a low round count doesn't work for me.

Re: Glock 43
I think that when/if OC passes, sales in this single-stack 9mm category will taper off quite a bit. People buy them for reasons of concealment. They will always be around for people who still insist on "deep cover" for their carrying needs, but even for people who continue to conceal, I think that tiny 9mms will become less relevant as the legal consequences of exposure go away. They will remain the province primarliy of those who MUST conceal - either because of social or work considerations.Abraham wrote:I have zero interest in this Glock model.

Not counting 1911s, we have three single-stack CCW pistols in our household. Two are 9mm, and one is a 45. They are Kahrs CW9 (my wife's EDC) and PM9 (mine, rarely carried), and a Springfield XDS-45, which is my EDC. All three can be pocketed in a pinch, although I always belt-carry my XDS. But we have them primarily for two reasons: 1) because they conceal more easily within the paradigm of how we dress than do our primary double-stack carry guns (G19 for my wife, XDM-45 Compact 3.8 for me), and 2) for weight considerations (weight can make a pistol harder to conceal almost as much as size can).
So I totally get what Abraham is saying here. More bullets is generally better than fewer (but only if you can hit with them). If OC is legal, then while I probably wouldn't deliberately set out to OC as a regular thing, I would be much less concerned about the implications of unintentional or deliberate failure to conceal, and that makes a larger carry gun a more attractive alternative. When I bought my XDM, it was my EDC.......until I got the XDS. With passage of OC, my XDM would probably become my EDC again, with the XDS relegated to alternate status.

Re: Glock 43
I understand the point you are making but OC has been legal in much of the country for awhile and it has not affected the sales of single stack firearms. The only single stack firearm I currently own is the 42. I've tried to like others including the PM/CW and the XDs but I always go back to my glocks. The 43 is going to be a great addition to my carry rotation and I believe it is going to be a huge seller. If open carry passes I will carry my 19 more but the will always be times where a smaller lighter firearm will be my preference. The Annoyed Man wrote:I think that when/if OC passes, sales in this single-stack 9mm category will taper off quite a bit. Re: Glock 43
this won''t displace my shield as my thin 9mm because the shield is just such a nice soft shooter for the size...BUT i do think i'll sell off the g42 I got to try out and switch over to a g43. That video of mr. ayoob indicates this solves some of the trigger related issues I've got with the 43 given that the trigger distance will be slightly further out on this one.
Do i NEED one? No Do I desperately want it? not really, but i'll give it a whirl.

Re: Glock 43
I for one am excited about this news. Didn't buy a 42 as I own no other 380 and didn't really want to add a new caliber. I've held the XDs and didn't like how it fit my hand. Pawed over a shild in 9 & 40 and just didn't get that "take me home" feel.
I admit I conceal my G23 easly and this little 9 will be a nitche filler. I have no shame in my affection for Glocks! I'd own one of each if I had the funds for it.

I am on the list at GT Distributors and I will be happy to see it when it arrives. I believe it is $358.00 plus taxes. After they have been around awhile they will probably be less expensive.

If I got the endorsement checks that he does, I'd believe anything Glock wants me to believe....jmra wrote:Sales will tell the story. This guy (whom many of you often quote) believes the 43 will set sales records.

Re: Glock 43
I think that the market for single stack 9mms is going to stay robust. While I do think that the passage of OC laws will change the way many of us carry and push more people toward service size pistols, there are times when a small but capable gun like the Shield, XDS or this new 43 will really fit the bill. Joggers, cyclists, and ladies who don't want to carry a brick in their purses are still going to want a smaller, lighter option. I carry a service size pistol as my EDC, but each morning I go for my daily run with a Shield (and two big german shepherds). I expect Glock will sell plenty of these.

Re: Glock 43
Yes, the 43 will sell. But it would've sold more if Glock had jumped into the ss9 pool sooner rather than later. As we've seen in this thread (which is by no means scientific, but is somewhat representative), many of us have already gone for other options that aren't likely to be replaced anytime soon.

The 26 was still selling very well as was the 42. Although had the 43 come out earlier I wouldn't have had to endure the whole XDs fiasco.TexasCajun wrote:Yes, the 43 will sell.
