If racking the slide is the main problem, I'd consider a Beretta Tomcat. It comes, I believe, in only 32cal but it's a fine little piece. Or as another poster recommended, a small frame revolver.

I cannot say the same. I bought mine in November, struggled running a box through it and had to send in for repairs. Got it back, wasn't able to go out until a couple weeks ago. Cant get it to chamber HP's. It's back at Ruger again. Not happy. Not trusted. Demanding a full replacement on it. My buddy just bought his wife a new one and is experiencing the same issues as mine. I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with this gun. Heck, I even fell out of a john boat with mine on. Cleaned it, and it went on. Probably shot 500 rounds through it so far and its never failed to feed. But, I wouldn't want to steer somebody wrong.

I've never had one single glitch with my LC9s. One thing to check, however, is that your gun has the new cone shaped return spring guide rod. Early models of the LC9 had the flat ended guide rod and there were some problems with that. Ruger will supply the new design guide rod free of charge. Mine came with the new design rod and I've never had a problem with the gun.

A pocket gun, might be the best solution for the OPs issues. I don't know, but I have found that these tiny pocket guns are harder to operate than their bigger brothers.
Among those who have trouble racking the slide there are very few, who can't find help with the fine article written by Kathy Jackson of the Cornered Cat. Although she has written the article primarily for females, I think most of us can take advantage of some of the advice she has to give. Rack the slide

Grisham, have you tried Glaser Pow'r Ball ammo? It could solve your feeding problem. They fill the tip of a hollow point bullet with a polymer ball so that it feeds like FMJ ball ammo.

Have not tried the brand you recommended. Did run two different versions of hp's. Remington HTP's and Hornady critical defense. Not the best but should have worked. Neither one was any better than the other. I filled the magazine with just the plain ole FMJ and it even gave a slight hesitation during chambering. Something is just seriously wrong with this(my) gun. Trusting it will obviously take major longevity of no more failures. It's frustrating as I am a big boy in size with large hands and for what ever reason this pistol just feels great in my hands. Already got my concealed holsters for it and everything. I really want to carry it so bad but will have to wait and see what Ruger does as the ball is in their court right now. At least accoring to the tracking number they signed for it again today.

I was going to recommend a Beretta 86 since it is chambered in .380. Like the Tomcat (& the Bobcat in .22lr or .25ACP), it has a tilt-up barrel so you don't have to work the slide to chamber a round. The magazines hold 8 rounds. And it is DA/SA with a safety, so you have several options on how to carry it. The downside is that they have been out of production for years & the cost to buy one keeps going up.
