Hey, I want in too!
JHP for carry. FMJ for range.

I know it is unlikely for Texas LTC to carry in NJ but no hollow points in your defense gun in that crazy state.

If you ever find me there, call the authorities I've been kidnapped, or been given an involuntary lobotomy. Pay whatever they are asking and get me out of there asap.

Which ever one works best in the gun. I wouldn't want to be shot with either.

Federal HST IN .45 and Underwood in 10MM. Both are JHP.

I sure don't want to be the first one to discover that they don't stop someone as well as a regular JHP. Actual tests in ballistic gelatin by independent testers are not that impressive. In fact, in one test, it behaved more like an unobstructed JHP after passing through two layers of drywall and insulation; but when fired clean into gelatin, the permanent wound cavity was not that impressive.

Fails to perform as well as Federal HST through a windshield:

If my only two choices were R.I.P. and FMJ, I'd pick FMJ every time.

Statistically (referencing all the various PD reports) there are more misses than hits in a gunfight so the overpenetration thing is not a consideration in my mind since a miss is way more dangerous than a pass trough.
BUT statistically, a JHP STOPS an attacker much faster than FMJ and that is the best reason I can think of to use them.
A few seconds is a relative short time... a few seconds of a brutal attack is an eternity! JHP for me, please.
