Been busy with work the last couple days just getting around to the forum again, the adapter I have was off eBay, the closest thing I can find to it now with the lock nuts is from http://www.muzzlecouplings.com/muzzle_couplings.htmThe Annoyed Man wrote:Can you give me a link where I can read up on that adapter?Medley86 wrote:Currently don't have a suppressor, friend of mine built one form 1 and when he is in town and we go shoot I use his some. I haven't had time to get a form 1 together to build one myself. Hopefully they will change the regs so that I can just get one and not need a years worth of hassle to have it.The Annoyed Man wrote:I'd like to see that. Which suppressor are you using?Medley86 wrote:I don't have a takedown but my 10/22 carbine has the same front sight as the 11100. I have an adapter that slips over the barrel and has 2 nuts to tighten it down behind the front sight keeping the sight serviceable and allowing for mounting a suppressor, all without any real modification of the barrel. I'll try to remember to post a picture of it after work tomorrow.

Just as an FYI I would not recommend using an adaptor such as this with a suppressor. While it's probably fine for a muzzle device, its in no way appropriate for a suppressor as you have no way of assuring it's aligned with the bore. Thus, you run the risk of having a baffle or endcap strike.Medley86 wrote:I don't have a takedown but my 10/22 carbine has the same front sight as the 11100. I already own barrel guide rods in .223" and .308", which I have used to assure concentricity on a .30 caliber AAC can for which we had to machine an adapter to make the AAC flash hider work on a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle:SigM4 wrote:Just as an FYI I would not recommend using an adaptor such as this with a suppressor. It works as advertised. A .22 LR bullet is .223" in diameter, so the .223 barrel guide rod should work.

I have fired several hundred rounds through that adapter with a suppressor without a problem

I have no doubt, I'm just saying there is way too much room for error with this setup for me to feel comfortable with it. Especially when I weigh the time and money invested into one of my cans (even my rimfire cans). The added weight of a SS can on a mount that is held on by a friction lock is just asking for trouble. The only way to be 100% sure you are (and remain) concentric to the barrel is to have the barrel properly threaded. It doesn't take much for a mount such as this to become ever so askew and suddenly you're testing out the can manufacture's warranty process.Medley86 wrote:I have fired several hundred rounds through that adapter with a suppressor without a problem
Again, this is just my 2¢ and I'm simply putting it out there as an opposing viewpoint so that others can make an informed decision.

I wouldn't trust the ones that only set screws on, and not sure I would trust the one I have with a ss can, the one I have used was all aluminum so there wasn't much weight in the grand scheme.SigM4 wrote:I have no doubt, I'm just saying there is way too much room for error with this setup for me to feel comfortable with it. Well, a 10/22 takedown rifle is going to have to wait for another day, as a completely different .22 followed me home today: https://www.henryrifles.com/rifles/leve ... ier-rifle/. This thing is beautiful.

Always loved the octagonal barrels on some of the Henrys. I don't have one on my wish list, but still think they just look like a bit of tradition and history. The Annoyed Man wrote:Well, a 10/22 takedown rifle is going to have to wait for another day, as a completely different .22 followed me home today: https://www.henryrifles.com/rifles/leve ... ier-rifle/. A Henry is definitely on my list. Not sure where, but it is there. I met one of the owners at the Houston NRA convention. Just super down to earth. And helped a buddy replace a stock on an AR7 that he admittedly messed up. They asked him to pay shipping. It is probably a cheaper part, all things said. But it was still a class move on their part for an issue of his own creating.
An octagon barrel is probably mandatory for mine, when I get to it.
