Especially for those in North Austin (I am way south), as an alternative, there has been an IDPA match scheduled in Temple tomorrow AM. I have never been to that club, but am considering it. It has fewer stages and a lower round count, but could still be fun.

I am trying to find out now if the match is still on.

If anyone is interested, I can post the results of my inquiry here. I could give someone a ride in my pickup.

I think Mike Webb needs to retrain his weather coordinator.

Well, I will try for next Sunday then. Maybe Dean will be nicer than Erin.

I'm interested in the temple IDPA, and in carpool if you're offering. I live north/central austin. I'll check up at 6am on saturday to see if you've posted a go/no-go.

Good catch.

It IS Sunday 8-26. I'll let Mike know of the email error.

Steve and fenster, really glad that you can still make it.

Well, we had the match today HOOORAAY!!. NO RAIN.

fenster and srothstein both showed up. What nice guys. It was a real treat to meet them at long last. srothstein had some family obligations and couldn't stay for the whole thing but made time to come by and introduce himself. I appreciated the gesture.

fenster is a great guy with a talent for this sport/game. He did really well for someone who had never done this type of thing before. Nice pistol, too. Afterwards we went by the local Rudy's BBQ and had a nice lunch too.

We had the pleasure of another new shooter, Stacy, on our squad who joined us for lunch and a coworker of mine, Gabe, who just wanted to watch as he had never shot a handgun before.

Everyone seems to have had a good time or were very polite and acted like they did. I know I did. Thanks guys. It was a pleasure to meet you.

I had a great time today. it was truly a pleasure to meet yourself and Gabe.

I appreciate the time and effort that you and our squad safety officer took to accomodate the new shooters like myself, and help us be safe, have fun, and do as well as possible.

in my participation in various recreations ... mtn biking, hockey, tri's, and now shooting.. I have come to the realization that the people you do the thing with are every bit as important, if not more, than what you get from the activity itself. it was great to spend the morning with yourself, Gabe, and Stacy.

Due to navigation errors, it took a lot longer to get there then planned, so my wife and I got there too late to shoot.

We stuck around and watched the stages for awhile then headed back home.

Maybe next time we'll make it in time

I think I may try the carbine match coming up this weekend...sounds like it may be fun.

I am going to try to make it, too. Look for me. I will probably be the only one shooting a Ruger Mini-14. Stainless/synthetic stock.

Bring your sidearm. There are often 1 or 2 stages where there is a transition from long gun to handgun or handgun to long gun.

Minimum ammo requirements are around 100 for carbine and 25 or less for sidearm. Always good to bring more.

What do you shoot?

Hey fenster or srothstein, got a rifle?
