There is definitely a divide from the eastern part of the metroplex, and the western side. Nobody looks twice at a cowboy hat in Ft. Worth, and from there all the way to El Paso, but a lot of non-Texans have moved in and still think that we stand out from the crowd. There is also the issue of recent transplants buying tourist trap hats made in China, who look ridiculous in my opinion.

Lyle is very much a true Texan. He was born in Klein. He attended Texas A&M with Robert Earl Keen I have seen Lyle sporting a cowboy hat. Great artist, fantastic concerts.
