Re: Glock 19 jam issue

Post by RossA »

I once had a student who was having occasional issues with his Glock. As I watched him shoot, it turned out his rather long thumbs would sometimes creep up toward the slide and rub against the slide just enough to impede the functioning. When he kept his thumb off of the slide everything worked fine.

The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

AHA! I have done that several times, was told it was "OK" by "experts" at the gun store. I know never to do that in a 1911. Also, I tried one of those ghost glocks 80% lowers. It had all gen4 parts in it so I pilfered the ejector and replaced my original Gen3. As soon as Midway brings my stuff I can go test the new extractor out. Will compare the old extractor to the new one and report back for those interested.
If you change the model of the extractor, you may need to replace the spring loaded bearing with a model that matches it, FYI.

Cleared up I believe. replaced extractor and ejector with Gen4 units and ran 4 mags rapid fire no issues. Had ordered new extractor spring but didn't install it. There are brass marks on front edge of extractor from dropping slide on a loaded chamber but I didn't see any obvious damage, however could still be messed up. Thanks for all the help guys.
