At least manslaughter or criminal negligence. If you are dumb enough to point a loaded firearm at someone holding a book and pull the trigger, you should be under some sort of permanent supervision.

People do crazy stunts all the time. Tight rope walkers across Grand Canyon. If someone falls and dies is that manslaughter for the crew? Stupid no doubt but jail time?

She pointed a handgun at someone and pulled the trigger.

The people rigging the tight rope across the canyon are trying to provide the best conditions, within their abilities, for the man on the wire. The wire walker completes the act, hopefully, and assumes all the risk. If one of the riggers cut the wire with an axe...then we're getting closer to a comparable act.

During one of Texas more well known prison escapes the convicts used books as blockades and defense as they tried to exit to a vehicle. I can't recall the main player, but I think he was a drug dealer with a famous lawyer brother back in the 70's. Didn't work out. Maybe they chose from the light reading section instead of anatomy books.
That dude was Fred Carrasco. I believe it was 1974.
Thanks! I'm getting old and can have CRS. Can't Remember Stuff!
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. At my age CRS happens more than I would like to admit. :biggrinjester:

IIRC, the woman shooter has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter under Minnesota law.

The book, by the way, was a hardcover encyclopedia.

YMMV, depending upon news source.

Maybe if she used a .380, death would not have been assured, but a .50!!!!!!

SIA

She pointed the handgun at a book and both obviously thought that the little mousegun they were using would not penetrate the book. As I said, stupid. Could she have found a more powerful handgun to use? Stupid. What if this were a knife throwing trick and the knife hit her boyfriend? What if this were a shoot the apple off his head with a bow and arrow? Stupid, but criminal?

I believe had already fathered two, so it continues.

I guess they had never heard the phrase "unmanned trial run".

Even a .22lr can penetrate a pretty thick book.
