Hasn't been too bad in Galveston. Some horizontal rains. Steady 50 MPH winds earlier, but its back off now. Plenty of rain. Other than a little bit of street flooding, I don't think there is much flooding. A McDonald's sign might be the biggest casualty of the Island.

I was hoping you would be fine in Galveston. I have a very close friend in Hitchcock and I need to call him to see how they are doing.

I'm glad things seem to be ok so far in Friendswood and Galveston. Hopefully we get out with only property damage and minimal injuries.

Charles L. Cotton wrote:So far everything is fine in Friendswood. Creeks and bayous are rising and with another three to four days of rain, things can change. The rain is falling very hard, but there are breaks that are helping the situation greatly. If/when Harvey really does retreat to the Gulf, then head inland again close to Houston, the rain is going to get worse because we won't have breaks between heavy rainfall.
I haven't seen or heard of any deaths in Rockport or the Corpus Christi area and I pray it's because there aren't any. That would be amazing for a Cat. 4 hurricane and clearly the hand of God.
Thanks for the prayers.
Chas.
I saw a news conference around lunch time, Rockport has confirmed 1 death.

West side of Houston has bee pretty mild so far. We had a good batch of rain this afternoon, but it's dry again now. The kids are playing outdoors, and we hope that it continues as uneventful.
Very good friends of ours in the Spring area were out of power for a few hours today, but they're back on now.
Prayers for those who have been hit the hardest.

Anyone in Houston know if the Wallisville Rd area of NE Houston has a history or is prone to flooding? I have some concerns. Answer here, or PM me if you have any info. Thanks.

There is absolutely no telling with this storm and all the new housing developments that have gone up. Be safe and alert

My son in law just called to let us know he is okay. 2 deaths reported thus far, 1 close to Rockport died in a house fire and 1 drowning in Houston.
He said there have been a lot of high water rescues in the Houston area.
He has 4 hours for sleep then back at it.
