A. Suggestion and encouragement people to lock up their guns with kids around?
B. Mandatory law requiring guns to be locked up?
If it is B, I very strongly disagree.
If you are responding to me, I am not advocating a "mandatory law" requiring guns to be locked up. I'm advocating that the first line of responsibility goes to the parents. In my opinion, allowing unabated or "easy" access to a firearm to a minor (for starters) is a liability that falls upon the gun owner. And like others have mentioned in this thread, I too know many adults that I wouldn't trust with a firearm. I also know there are some kids that I would trust with a firearm but as the gun owner, I won't give neither the adult or minor the opportunity to make a mistake - whether it be deliberate or not.

Personally I work hard to keep ALL my firearms secure from ANY unauthorized person. That may mean keeping it on my person or in a safe. I have a lock-box for the car.
I prefer multiple layers of security, like:
1. an alarmed house/car
2. a locked house/car
3. concealed safe
4. firearms secure inside of that
Large aggressive dogs are a great asset too.

IANAL but it would seem that they could hold separate trials for each victim and then stack the sentences instead of having them run concurrently.

That would be awesome!
that would be great. I haven't read the SC ruling, but the way Paxton was talking about it on Monday he made it sound like the shooter could only get 40years...but he did say he needed to look at it some more to see what could be done.

I wish the news media could be banned from identifying these murderers by name. Give them no notoriety whatsoever.
