Just as an FYI, about a year ago my wife was stopped for speeding by a state trooper. She was on her way to work, and her employer is serious about no guns, so she wasn’t armed.
She gave the Trooper the usual documentation, but didn’t include her CHL. As the Trooper went back to his car, she asked me “Should I have given him my CHL?�. I told her I didn’t think she was required to.
The Trooper came back, gave her the ticket, said have a nice day, and that was that. He didn’t say anything about her not presenting the CHL, didn’t ask if she was armed, and didn’t say anything to me (I was armed at the time).
So there’s at least one time the LEO didn’t go nuts, drag the non-armed CHL out of the car, and handcuff her since she didn’t present her CHL.
Not saying it’s not possible, only here’s one case where it didn’t happen…
