I've been lurking on this forever and I finally decided to become part of the community to see if I can get your experienced insight. I sent my packet in and after waiting 3 weeks I finally got the update that by packet was received and that my background check was under review. It's been sitting in "Under Review" for 2 weeks now and since I'm growing impatient (that should come to no surprise) I called and they told me that my background check was finished over a week ago and that everything was done except they were waiting for my CHL-6 Form to be scanned.

Anyone ever heard of this or experience the same?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the DPS site hasn't updated but it seemed odd that this one form wasn't already scanned along with the rest of my packet that had been scanned. I asked the CS Rep when they estimated that this scanning would be done and she told me 2 weeks! This just doesn't sound right.

Anyone have similar issues?

You're on track. I mailed everything on 8/1/12 and got plastic 9/12/12. A few people were 60 days mailbox to mailbox. I wouldn't worry, you should have it in another 1-2 weeks.

It really just depends. DPS received all of my stuff on July 26th. It's been sitting on Background check ever since. I've had to force myself to stay out of this forum (not doing a very good job) because I'm seeing lots of folks send their packets in 2-3 weeks after me and already have their plastic.

There definitely doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind how these things are processed. Just seems to be luck of the draw.

So I check the DPS site this morning and to my surprise it says "Mailed". I didn't expect an update on a Saturday. I assume this update just means my plastic is in an envelope sitting in Austin but it's good to see that everything is done.

Hopefully you will have plastic in hand sometime this week. Looking forward to your "Wally Walk" report.
I on the other hand still have a few more weeks here in the waiting room.
