As a Federal Law Enforcement Officer, I would think that my application would be done pretty quick. Well I am currently on day 98. I called today. Still waiting on background from Galveston County. Guam, a small island 8,000 miles away that isn't a state but a territory got theirs done "BEFORE" Galeveston County. In fact I will make it easy, On the Galveston County web page, they have a wanted list. MY NAME IS NOT THERE!!!!! :headscratch

That's some funny stuff right there. You would think they would put you in the express lane. So do you carrie for your job? And if you do, doesn't it supercede the need for a CHL?

Oh....Got to go. Headed to Wally World. :fire

Yes, I carry @ work every day. As for being off, I can "legally" carry concealed "any State" under the "Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act of 2004", As well as 14USC89(a). However, if some local cop decides to arrest me because he does not know the law concerning LEOSA or 14USC89, then my agency will not back me up. I will be on my own to hire a lawyer. It would be dropped in court, but I would pay for the whole mess financially myself. Therefore, the agency highly recommends just getting a CHL.

Just to add to the growing list:

CHL Class: Feb
Mailed Packet: 5 March
Received confirmation: 25 March
Contacted DPS: 12 June - told the background investigation was still in process
Contacted state representative: 26 June (91 days)
Representative's Office contacted DPS: 29 June
(Replied to us it would be expidited)

As of 4 July ... no change. My wife applied the same day - with the same result.

Has anyone tried asking DPS for a formal, post-90 day denial letter with the intent of demanding a hearing?
:patriot:

I am on day 102. I have attempted to call the CHL office all day, but the switchboards have remained busy. I called Sen. Mike Jackson's office today. They secretary first gave me the spew about Hurricane Ike and the Presidential Election, then patch me thru to another lady, only for me to leave a message on her machine. I am a March applicant, but several April applicants are jumping in line and getting there's first, because of their Senator's/Reps. Plus, I am a law enforcement officer, why aren't I in the head of the line. :mad5

I'm waiting for the one person to get assaulted while waiting past the 90 days for a CHL application where a firearm would have saved them or their family bodily injury, I'm sure Cotton would be all over that!
