Good bye waiting room! Application in hand! But the website still shows processing. Now I just have to reapply in 4 years 355 days :)

edit: And as we were talking about in the other thread I looked out the window to see the UPS van parked then looked out the peep hole to see him walking up, I opened the door before he even knocked :smash:

Ah the Wally Walk, an interesting beast it is!

So it started out with me and the wife unit going to the 2:00 showing of Harry Potter which didn't have me too uncomfortable then we went for a stroll around the mall since they had a craft type fair thing going on inside and I kept tugging at the back or my shirt to make sure that it didn't ride up over my crossbreed supertuck we walked around for a bit bought 3 fabric books for the kids then went to Wal-Mart. I was walking around seemingly constantly tugging at the back of my shirt. Wife looked at clothes while I walked over to sporting goods to look for .40 FMJ ammo, they had none of course so I went and found a new belt that fit better while wearing the holster. I then found my wife and pushed the cart around clothes forever checked out and came home. It was successful and no one walked up to me asking me what was poking out of my shirt so that's good :)

I finally got my license yesterday, on my birthday no less. About 4 full months after submittal. I did contact my state reps office and they did some digging because they have had several complaints. I was told that DPS brought in alot of temps on July 6th to deal with the backlog. My question is 'Why didn't they bring them in sooner' Anyways, I got it and am very happy now. I did the Wally Walk and Home Depot today.

OK, so last week they told me they are waiting on the printing of my license. 8 days later the site still says Processing. Anyone know how long it takes (or took them) to get a license printed and delivered?

Well I called DPS to ask about my license. It was 8 days ago when they emailed me that they were waiting on the printing of my license. The guy I got was nice but indicated that it takes 2 weeks to print the license. You add in the 5 days it seems to mail things from there and that is 3 weeks!!!. That puts me just short of 5 months to get my CHL, absolutely insane!! and that's assuming no more delays.

:banghead:

Oh, thank god - it's almost over. My status ticked over to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" overnight.

Harris County, and processing was four months to the day that they received the app. No missing paperwork, no re-do of fingerprints, etc.

I called my state senator & rep's offices, and they made calls to the legislative liaison @ DPS for me. No idea how much that may have helped, but 120 days < a number of other Harris County apps I've seen here. OTOH, I'm relatively stable in employment and residence, > 10 years at both. So perhaps less work to do on the BG?

Now I have to remember NOT to carry in the car, at all, during this gap period between "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" and receiving plastic. Don't want my tender bits in the wringer like happened to one other poor soul here in Tx after getting pulled over & 'failing to declare'...

My birthday is the end of June. When do you think I should schedule myself beginning the renewal process?
