Hmm, DPS received my packet on Thu Apr 13, and as of today has cashed my check. Is this good time, or is this typical of time it takes to process? No rush, just curious.

Mailed application on Feb. 03, PIN received the first day of March, license on or about March 28. It took longer for them to send me my PIN than from PIN to license. ???

Have noticed that there is no poll question for people from 80 to 120 or so days without complications? Maybe you have read one of my earlier bleatings that my processing time was 98 day but my wife's was processed in just 54 days. We sent our apps. in on the same day (01/03/2006)!

You guys are really into checking your status online. I usually checked it once a day, sometimes twice if I checked it in the morning the first time (before DPS would have much time to process anything).

I wouldn't be surprised if everyone checking their status so often was bogging down their system so much they couldn't get any work done!

I am at 39 days since DPS signed for my application packet. I still have not received my PIN. I don't have my copies of the app, so I can't e-mail DPS to ask what the status is (I don't remember what my application number is). Maybe I'll just try e-mailing them anyway.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, anyway. I hate waiting!

When checking up on things over the phone they can use your social security number. Unless you're paranoid about someone hacking into your e-mail you could try it that way.

well thats a relief i suppose...just got off the phone with them and they said my app was processing and it would go out somtime next week...i asked if it was my pin number or my license itself she was refering to, and it was the actual license! i guess somehow they forgot to send me my pin :<

They had me worried! I was half expecting them to say they never got it and i'd be out $240! :X (i was stupid and didnt send the packett certified mail)

Still processing. I'm wondering how much the 'local designee' has to do with the processing time. I checked the demographics online and Montgomery county (where I live) is 8th in the number of issued licenses (around 6000) and Harris county has issued around 25000 making it the number one county.

Of course this doesn't correlate with the story about husband and wife sending them on the same day and receiving the licenses 30 days apart.

Who knows?

Today is day 42. Still no PIN, so I pulled out my copies of the app to get the number off of it. I just e-mailed chlATtxdps.state.tx.us asking what the status was and what, if anything I could do to speed things up a tad. I'll let y'all know what their reply is when I get it.

How long did yours take from the time they recieved your packet?

Maybe someone from the DPS will pop in someday and explain how the process actually works. It would be interesting to see what issues make the times so different, someone had told me people with common names take longer to weed out compared to peeps with unusual names.

I'm screwed then, I have a very common first name and a moderately common last name. In Houston alone, there are 12 of me, I mean 12 with the same first and last name combination.
