I like Sig's, but I'm wondering how they account for at least the one caught on camera where the officer's hands didn't appear to be anywhere near the holster when the gun discharged? Did the holster do it??

The comments have several videos of dropped P320's going off.

At this point SIG's lawyers are just following the 3D's playbook... Delay, Deny, Defend.

They have no good defense to their pistol going off in the holster.

In 2023 Texas had 2,802 Highway Patrolmen (many more carry the Sig P320 in DPS) and they have had zero dischargees. Maybe there are a few, but it must be very few. Also I wonder how many of those guns were worked on by “shade tree” gunsmiths before the discharges?

Here is the video posted earlier, but I link it to immediately before the discharge.

In the holster. Hasn't been removed or reholstered. Nothing in the holster. Discharges from bumping the door when exiting.

Like I said there may be some bad apples with the Sign320, but with over 2,800 Sig P320 and P320 Carry’s in service at Texas DPS there have been zero reported failures. Maybe they had a bad run of Sig P320’s. Mine has been perfect and I have carried it for a couple of years now.

Disclaimer: I own 3 Sigs and all are solid performing weapons. Daily carry is P365. Thought this was funny though.

A mild 'language' warning for the video, but a slow-motion review of a GBRS class that had a Negligent Discharge on reholstering a P320 that was initially thought to be an 'Uncommanded Discharge '.

Seeing a few posts on this. Sad for the family. Seeing a lot of talk about what happened, but nothing I could find from reliably known 2A people or news yet on what exactly happened. But it seems troubling for Sig that the Air Force has immediately pulled it from use.

A July 21, 2025, memo for Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) makes clear all AFGSC personnel are to pause use of Sig Sauer’s M18 pistol.
The M18 is a Sig Sauer P320 variant.

F.E. Warren AFB reported that “an active-duty Airman assigned to the 90th Security Forces Squadron, 90th Missile Wing, died on base while on duty in the early morning [of] July 20, 2025.”

That's really sad. My everyday carry is a Sig P320 compact. It's been my EDC since i bought it several years ago. Great shooter. I might consider switching EDC to my Beretta 92x compact after this.

Gunsite, among others, have banned or suspended 320s on their ranges.
Gunsite Academy has always placed firearms safety as paramount.
Currently, there are significant questions being asked in our community about the operation of the SIG 320 Pistol.
After much consideration, we have decided that until these questions have been answered to our satisfaction, Gunsite will no longer allow the SIG 320 Pistol to be used in classes, effective immediately.
If the SIG 320 is a government-issued duty pistol for Military or Law Enforcement students, we will allow - but discourage the use of - the SIG P320 for that student.
Other SIG platforms continue to be welcome in classes.
SIG is a well-known leader in our industry and we are confident they are working diligently to investigate the possible underlying problem.
Once the issue is resolved, we will reconsider our prohibition.
Respectfully,
