I cant bring myself to say it either. I picked up my Ruger SR9C at Gt distributers. 369.99 .....501.01 For gun holster 50 Federal Hydroshocks and 100 rounds of lawman.
ok, now you've got me checking the date that all of these threads were created before i respond. although this one seems a bit recent compared to some of the others you've brought back from the dead

Maybe, maybe not, on giving it to the wife. My wife doesn't care for my S&W, and to my surprise, can only pull the trigger with great effort; and my DIL doesn't appear to be able to pull the trigger on my son's LCR. I imagine practice would do the trick, but it's hard to get them to practice when they dislike it from the start.

I just (today) sold my XDM 9mm full size (4.5" barrel) 19+1 rounds for $440. I bought an XDM 9mm compact. I was ok with the full size for EDC, but I can tell that I'm going to be even happier with the compact.

Watch texasguntrader.com for used guns and you'll probably find a good deal before too long. You just have to watch and be quick to catch the good deals before someone else does.

One thing you might want to think about is a Glock. If you do a google search for GSSF (Glock Sport Shooting Foundation) you can join for $35.00 and one time a year they will allow law enforcement pricing for any glock they carry. You can find more information on the website but if my memory serves me right you could get a brand new Glock 17 (9MM) or a Glock 23 (.40) for pretty close to $400.00. I have a glock and the thing I love about it is everytime I pull the trigger it goes bang!

You may also want to check the marketplace on these forums. I saw some pretty nice deals in there.

My favorite gun to shoot is the Bersa 9mm Thunder Pro HC ($315). Very accurate, quiet with neigible recoil. Only problem being full size its a little large and heavy for concealed carry. so I got a Kel Tec P-11 ($210) for concealed carry. Love the small size of this weapon and having (12+1=13 rounds) in this small size. This is not the smallest 9mm but its pretty close and the other smaller 9mm are usually 7+1. The P-11 is a difficult gun to shoot with its snappy recoil and very long DA trigger however I cannot find a better carry weapon. This is small enough for pocket carry.

What would you guys recommend in either a 9mm or .40 S&W below $400? I like all of the safety features the XD has and also the capacity.
Do you think I could find one maybe at a pawn shop for $400 or less? If not, bring on your input.

Thanks,
Kevin

I currently have a SA XD-40, it has never let me done for anything. I also have delt a little with SA coustmer service, in which not only did they have what I was looking for but sent it to me free. This summer I am planing to get the SA XD-9 SC as a result of all this. If you can increase your budget to about $500, and shop at the privete local shops you should be able to pick one up. Stay away from the chain stores, they are generally a lot higher then the smaller stores. If you are in the houston area a few good places to start are tomball pawn, conroe shooting center, and Spring guns and Ammo.

While this is a good deal, you have to wait over a year after initially joining to get the GSSF pricing on one unless you sign up for a two or more year membership.

This isn't True. You can request the form for GSSF pricing as soon as you join. I've done it myself. It take 30 to 60 days for the form to get to you and then you find a dealer that will accept it in your area. Then your done.

Starting May 1st of this year you have to be a GSSF member for a year before the special buy. They now send you a letter or coupon to make the purchase, no longer just a copy of your card. However the party in this post could have bought a couple of Glocks for the price if he had joined three years ago when they first posted.

Kevin,

Good morning, okay...awesome choice on your wish list... My first handgun was a SA XD .40 compact (4") that I found new for $400 plus tax .. I could fill a whole page on why I love and obviously trust my and my families life to this carry weapon.
Now... $400 that's a little on the lower side BUT as said before there are MANY options if you're patient.
If you haven't done so already do yourself a favor and find a place to rent guns and shoot as many as you can to see what fits and works best for you...

That being said if you're not SOLD on the .45 and want a decent carry or home defense weapon (some will balk at this but...) A Ruger SR9c is usually new for under $400 if you don't mind buying online (if you can't find one locally) they also have MANY .45s for around $400...Check out... http://Www.lowpriceguns.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They're a awesome gun store in Bellvue, WA and have amazing prices and selection :patriot:

Ooooh, and the huge gun show is next weekend in Houston... :fire

If you're around the area I'm sure you could talk someone into selling you what you want... I have found that usually...Cash talks!!!

Good luck and if possible... Get that XD...just sayin' ;-) :txflag:
