If you want to go overseas to work and it "takes forever" to get a passport then you should start the process TODAY!

When I looked at the "Waiting Room" and saw all the problems and massive delays people were griping about, I could have said to myself, "man it takes forever to get a CHL! I might as well not even try." Instead, I decided that I needed to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. Right now, my line of work is experiencing it's seasonal slump, so not a lot of money is coming in. Plus, we just incurred some enormous vet bills. Instead if thinking "it's too expensive, I can't afford it," I thought "how can I make this happen?" I pinched ten bucks here and twenty bucks there until I had the money for the class and the licence fee.

When I was in the Army, I saw all the hard work and struggle that it took to make Sergeant. Instead of thinking it was too hard, I just did the work, got the education, took on the responsibility and let the goal take care of itself. The usual length of time it took to make Sergeant was seven years. I made it in three-and-a-half.

As to the passport thing, according to the state department it's down to four weeks, which is about half (or less) what it was this time last year.

thats odd when i went to alaska just before jan. they were saying after the new law came into effect it was going to be 6 months plus

Then dont ask for other people to help you. Nobody has a magic wand to make life easy here. People have taken the time to give you some very good advice in this thread and you have either shot it down or ignored it.

Stop wasting their time and go out and do something. We have all experienced failures and disappointments in life, or we havent yet begun to live. Just accept it, learn from it, and move on. It will not be the last time you spend valuable time and money on something that doesnt work out unless you dont allow yourself to accept any more challenges.

all i was looking for is some sound advice and thanks to all who brought it to me realy i am working on a few differant things but nothing will happen over night. that would be nice though

A company called paladin press has been publishing books on this a long time. I was once 18 and no offense, I was naive and interested in bounty hunting. It pays next to nothing, is dangerous, and something I'd strongly advise against. Fog/Dawg the bounty hunter glamourized it again for another generation, but look into something else.

I work for Global investigation as a Fugitive Recovery Specialist. First, Never say BOUNTY HUNTER in front of the DPS Board as that term is now Illegal. Second Fugitive Recovery doesnt pay by the hour it pays based on the capture,you get a %age of the bond. If you don't catch you don't get paid. Gas comes out of pocket, Intelligence resources are out of pocket and now legally you can NOT carry a gun while serving warrnts even as a CHL holder carrying as a private Citizen. If you want a weapon on site you must request P.D Backup on-scene. Before even looking at a Fugitives house you must go to the local P.D and show I.D as well as your DPS card and tell them your working in the area. Most Bail Bondsman no longer Hunt Fugitives as there is way too much liability. If you want a recovery job you have to call a local Private Investigations company. Also no matter what on-line course you took 99.99% of companys wont hire for a decent %age without actual expeirence. Most likely they'll start you on a ride along deal and you never set foot out of the car for about 2-3 months then they'll give you about a 5% cut for 5-6 months as you got on the job training. Then you can get 25-50% of a bond. Most bonds are $250-$500 so youll get $75-$250 most of the time tops and beleive me you will spend 20-50 hours tracking someone they dont just hand you a file and say here he is go here and get him. YOU have to do all the searching within a time limit of a week or two tops depending on when the courts offset date expires. If you dont catch em by then, well your just out of luck on cash and all. Thats how this business works.

perhaps thats the kick in the rear you need to get started on a career. Thats what happened to me a few years ago, got laid off and got angry and vowed to stop messing around with my career and get serious. I hope only the best comes from it for you.
