Did ya get a free drink?
Not at that time, but during my 3 week stay I got several free ones and educated him on some of the finer points of rights and self defense. I can't say that I converted him but I definitely left an impression.

I worked at IAH as a contractor today without any airport ID and had to be escorted everywhere by the client. Just happened to run into another contrator I'd met elsewhere. He had worked there long enough and had an airport photo ID allowing him unescorted access around the same clients facilities.

Here's my question. He told me he "had" to show his DL + CHL when getting his airport ID badge. Not because of the clients procedures/policy but rather TX law.

Is that true or false?

Maybe. Was he armed with a handgun at the time? Was the person processing the airport ID badge a peace officer?

I'm not sure about the scope of CK's visit but if he was going beyond a secure area he wouldn't be carrying anyway right? In which case you don't need to produce the ID to a peace officer.

I'm going to assume (yes, I know what that makes me) the person processing ID was not a peace officer. It was in secure (maintenace) area for one of the airlines and the airline issued the badge, not FAA or other arm of government.

EDIT: I stand corrected. The other contractor's ID badge was issued by Houston Airport System, not the airline.
atxgun responded they same way I was thinking, if it's not a PO asking for it, and you're not carrying, no requirement to present CHL.

I had to pull it out as a form of secondary ID once, I don't recall where. It was accepted without comment, though.
