How long should it take to get my PIN number from the DPS?? It's only been 10 days since I mailed the application, so I'm probably getting a little anxious.

Looks like it is taking 3-4 weeks for the pin. My friend got his pin on the same day mine app turned to processing. I already had a pin from years back. Hopefully they are back on track for about another 4 weeks until they issue the plastic. It only took a day to get a response to my "change of address email" so they are working.

Still it feels slow.....

Checked my status this morning and got the dreaded "application incomplete, detailed letter sent". I am really irritated about this, I made sure everything was filled out, and I assumed the morons I took the class with knew how to take the pictures. Who knows. On the bright side, it seems like things are moving fast, I mean I just got my PIN on Feb 7.

Still no PIN for me yet, although I called and spoke to someone, and was on hold for less than a minute! She told me the letter was mailed last Friday and I should be seeing it soon. I also tried to email them for a PIN and got a response in minutes, saying that they haven't gotten to it yet. I thanked him for the update and the hard work they are putting in to process the apps, and he replied with a thank you.

Hopefully next week I'll get a PIN so at least I can see the "Processing" screen!

LOL. looks like I forgot to sign my pictures. I know the instructor signed them but I didnt know or skipped reading the part that said that I myself have to sign it.

While I wait, the search for a new gun must continue

HI all - newbie here. I've been watching for the past month...and waiting.

Took the class at the Bass Pro Shop in San Antonio on the 3rd of January. Got my PIN on the 2nd of Feb. Am retired Air Force and ride a Goldwing. Any other riders in the area like to hit the Hill Country roads on weekends, send me a line.

Thanks Kieth. Appreciate the welcome but hate the wait. Opinion question - KelTec P-3AT or Ruger LCP (I am leaning townard Ruger although the recall worries me) Just your opinion. I have my dad's AMT .380 Kurz 9mm Backup in the truck now. Hate the brass in the face though.

SO more waiting begins. RAGE!

PIN received today. Application Processing! Now lets see how long my Harris Co background check takes

UPDATE: Finally got the pin number today (2/28/09). The wait for the plastic continues.

Update 2: 5/12/09 107 days since application sent. Still waiting.

Still waiting. At day 56 (guessing they got my packet on 12/29 since never signs for. Man I hope I get the "Application complete" message soon. This is killing me.
