The store in Plano was the one I went to back when they first opened it. Truthfully, I didn't see a sign in that store. I never went back because of the posts here saying that they had a corporate anti-gun policy. It has me wondering if some of these stores were never posted to begin with. Maybe they were catching back lash from the one or two that did post signs from the new store start up sign package.

It was more than one or two. From the threads we have had here in the past, the stores that did not post seemed to be in the minority. Both that I looked at in Austin were posted with the same little letter-sized sign. I drove by one today (South Lamar/Barton Springs), and noted the absence of the sign on the door. :thumbs2:

Heck...they may have had a sign. I just don't remember seeing it. I was really wondering where they got the signs to post. Do restaurants get a big package of signs to choose from or did the corporate office send those out to them? Regardless...glad they changed their minds. I had everyone I know refusing to go there...LOL. Some of them I just lied to and made up stories about roaches in the food and stuff. Gosh...I feel a little bad about it now. :biggrinjester:

It's probably the case that a few did it, a few thought it was a good idea and followed suit, the situation sat like that for a while, then the backlash happened, and corporate sent out the "we don't do this, take them down if you have them" message. I don't KNOW that's how it happened, but I've been part of the corporate scene long enough to guess at it. LOL

I think it was corporate. The signs were a weird size perhaps legal paper size, but not be big enough to be legal They all likely came from the same place.

If ya'll remember, there was a thread here a couple years back with an email exchange with someone in the corp office.
at that time, the person said that the 30.06 sign was their policy, and that's the way it was. they put up the "not legal" signs on the door as a courtesy, and had "legal" signs on the inside. sometimes these "legal" signs were hard to locate, sometimes they were not found, but that's what the corporate office said, once again, at that time.

it appears that corporate office has rethought their stance, and we win. unless you're on a diet, then we lost.... :biggrinjester:

ya'll enjoy.

But not all stores posted them. So not likely corporate.

Where would they have all got the signs from? I have never seen or heard of them in any other place. but have seen them in Galveston as well as just south of Austin. I have a theory. They have stopped posting new signs a couple of years ago. and that they haven't replaced new signs as they have been vandalized.

I thanked them by email for the removal of their 30.06 signs and let them know I'd resume doing business with them.

I received a cordial thank you email.

Very nice!

Yesterday I was at the Taco Cabana located at the intersection of NW Highway and Shiloh Rd in Garland/Dallas area. They had a 30.06 sign posted behind the cashier area. This was as of 02/09/2009.

Thanks,

I sent an email to Taco Cabana to thank them for the change in policy. This is the email reply sent to me by Diana Smith:
William #########,

First of all, allow me to apologize on behalf of Taco Cabana.

We appreciate you, our guest, and it is our intention that each experience be a pleasant one.

“The 30.06 sign should not have been posted at our stores.

Taco Cabana does not prohibit lawfully concealed handguns on our premises – only unlicensed weapons.”

If you know of any stores that have the 30.06 sign up please let me know and I will have our legal department contact them.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again, should the need arise.

Thank you,

Diana Smith

Wow. That response from Taco Cabana is the real deal. I might have to skip my PB&J for lunch and go to TC instead. Bravo.

With that kind of response, I will be going out of my way to be SURE to eat at a TC when I might not otherwise have done so. Good on them! :patriot:
