I have to withdraw this statement. I don't want to mislead anyone.

One suggestion for future legislative session... can we set up some sort of email distribution list for these time critical things. Maybe something that only Charles can send from so we don't get a lot of spam and chatter.. just the good stuff. Just a suggestion.
TSRA already sends out action alerts by email. The info has pretty much paralleled what Charles is doing here (no surprise, since he and Alice Tripp are both working these issues at the Capitol). Sometimes Charles has more detail, and I usually see his posts before the TSRA email, mostly because I monitor this forum regularly.
If you are not a member, join. But I suspect you can get the email alerts even if you are not a member. Go check out the TSRA websites. And join.
http://www.tsra.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You can sign up for the alerts here:
http://tsrapac.com/codepages/TSRA_Pac.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And don't forget to join TSRA.

p.s. did I mention you should join TSRA if not a member already?

I'm going to do exactly that for next session. As ELB said, TSRA already has an email alert system and that's a good one also. I can react a little faster and I can say . . . well I'll leave that alone.

thx. I've signed up for TSRA alerts but never got any. I do get NRA and GOA alerts though. I'll sign up again. Maybe I fat fingered something. Thx for letting me know.
and I went ahead and became a TSRA member as well.... see it was a conspiracy to get me to join. :)

Ok, so I am thinking based on your comments Charles that campus carry has officially died (or will die soon). Is that true?
Yes, I think the email list is a great idea.
I also want to say "thank you" to Charles, the TSRA lawyer (lady whose name I forget right now), and others for all the work they have done. Until now I really have not had a good picture of the amount of work it takes to get a bill moving. I know that trying to salvage things at the last minute is nearly impossible task (especially when there is not the political will in Austin). I certainly appreciate the hard work. Thank you again.

I believe you must be referring to Alice Tripp.

Correct, Alice Tripp is the lobbyist for TSRA, but she's not an attorney.

Exactly why would you insult miss Tripp by referring to her as an attorney?

Hopefully Charles will set up a Twitter account. I follow the NRA's "tweets" which keep me updated on national news.

I noticed that SB-1164 is on the Senate's regular order of business calendar for 5/15.
I may be missing something (probably and likely) or not understanding the process, but does that mean there is still a glimmer of hope?

It's there, along with 184 other bills awaiting a second reading, not to mention the numerous other items on the agenda.
I don't think it's been recommended for local calender yet. If you look at the agenda for today some bill are notated with (CS) and others are noted with (LC). I'm not sure but I think (LC) refers to the 2/3 rule to bring legislation to the Senate floor (i.e. the 21 votes needed to bring it from committee to the senate floor for debate) and SB 1164 is not noted with (LC).
Still looks like very long odds.

CS = Committee Substitute
LC = Local Calendar

Being on the Intent Calendar doesn't mean it's going to be brought up for debate and vote. The Senate's 2/3 rules requires 21 votes to bring a bill up and we don't have 21 votes.

Looks like it's not going to come up today anyway...Senate just adjourned until 11am Monday.
