I live in Pflugerville, 12 miles from DPS. Web status changed to the active / issued message last Thursday, received the license in the mail Saturday. Originally sent 4/4, received by DPS on 4/5 (US Mail return receipt). 72 processing days.

Not enough choices for time, I think, our renewals were sent 4/18 and receipted 4/19. Received today. What's that, 72 days end to end?

Girlfriend received her CHL yesterday

Post by Trainman »

A grand total of 69 total work days after sending it in initially. She received the license yesterday 39 work days after DPS receipt of her fingerprint do-over.

She is thrilled about it. Now she is debating all of her options for carry.

My original took 62 days. I called on day 60 and was advised that it had just been approved and had it in the mail 2 days later.

I sent my renewal in on June 3 and as of Monday July 11 status has been posted as Application Completed - license issued or certificate active.

A lot sooner then I had thought.

I sent my app in 12/2/04. Two months later I got a letter requesting I prove my US citizenship (I was born out of country on a US air base). I sent in a copy of my passport (hand delivered in Austin). Two months after that I got a letter asking for the results of a very minor juvenile arrest in California over 35 years ago (which was noted on my application). I sent three registered letter to CA requesting info (or lack of info) on the arrest. Six weeks later I finally got a reply (no records found). I faxed the info to the DPS and he processed the application that day. I received the permit 5/6/05

Got my license on Thursday. I am no longer running around naked. Man the lapse in the license sure felt odd. Did not take near as long as some have reported here.

Great site. I enjoyed watching the posts while I was waiting. Here are my CHL processing times:

June 22, 2005: took CHL course and mailed application packet to DPS via USPS Express Mail.

June 23, 2005: DPS received packet (according to USPS tracking)

July 13, 2005: Received (in two separate mailings on same date) 1. my PIN and 2. my old fingerprint cards back for redo. I immediately went to the local Police station and had them redone at expense to me and returned them with the old cards (as required) to DPS. Returned via USPS express mail.

July 14, 2005: DPS received cards back (according to USPS tracking).

July 28, 2005: DPS websited states "license issued".

August 1, 2005: Received CHL in mail from DPS.

39 DAYS!! WOW!! Hope this is a sign of things to come for future applicants.

GlockNation:
Welcome to TexasCHLforum! Was that your initial or renewal CHL? If it was your initial license, then this is the best turnaround time I've seen.

Regards,
Chas.
