O.K. and the world is round... or is it square? Can't be square... bullets would fall off the edge... and then where would they go? Besides, that would break Rule #4! Gotta' be round... just not big enough.

Anyway, I'm just glad it's over! :hurry:

I realize that differences of opinion can be frustrating, I just ask that we all respect the guidelines Charles has set forth and keep this forum clean and professional. Thanks and Goodnight all.

If you follow what happened, one member caused a thread to be locked by starting personal attacks.

That same member then started a new thrread for the sole purpose of continuing that attack. The attackee, after avoiding the thread for a while, finally responded by defending his honor.

While it takes two to tango, some people will not just sit back and allow their honor and reputation to be attacked without response.
In defense of my honor, it is obvious to me that you presumed I had not followed this and the other thread.

You are mistaken, I followed them.

It is my opinion that more than one member got out of hand.
You seem to be wrong today. :coolgleamA:

Gosh, this "defending your honor" business is time consuming.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Lets just let this die. Surely there are more important things to dicusss - anyone contemplating purchasing a new gun?

(intentional thread hijack)

I need to get a holster for my Rock Island Compact 1911; If a holster fits another brand compact model can I assume it will fit the RI? If I need to do a "fit and try" who has the best selection? I am located near I45 and 242 intersection.

bauerdj,

Your not very far from me. I'm off of Rayford rd. Anyway, in ths area there noone has a really good selection of holsters. Shooter's Station has Tucker, Don Hume, Bianchi, and Fobus. That's about the largest selection around. We are pretty much stuck with buy and try.

I have been to Shooters Station, they are really the only ones who have any selection at all.

I have also been suprised and disapointed that there is very little available at gun shows

I am going to need a larger holster storage box.

you guys are only about 45 min from college station. Champions has a ton of holsters. I have a couple of 1911 holsters you can try out as well if you make the trip. Lemme know.

Nice hijack.

Your Rock Island compact should fit any holster designed for a 1911 Officer, Colt Defender, Kimber Ultra Carry, etc. Likewise, the magazines will also interchange, as well as most of the parts.

One if the most important parts of a "fit and try" is not only gun-to-holster fit, but also holster-to-user fit. A holster that fits your gun is near-useless if the holster doesn't fit you (and thus, doesn't conceal or "chafes uncomfortably"). We all wind up with a "box o' holsters" that have been tried, and cast aside (and indeed, my own box of holsters is growing, though I am but a newbie to CCW).

Like the 'Holy Grail" we are all in search of the perfect holster. In addittion to all the usual requirements I am handicapped by a bad hip and my rather rotund  (read fat) body shape. The hip is the biggest problem since without trying I can never tell what is going to press on a nerve just the wrong way.

I will definately plan a trip to Champions in the near future, thanks for the suggestion.

By the way the most comfortable holster I'vr found so far is a Tucker IWB, the downside being it is a soft leather holster and somewhat difficult to return the pistol to the holster.

Nick, which roads are you taking to get to Spring in 45 minutes? I went to College Station Wednesday night and again Thursday night and it took right around 1 1/4 hrs from here to the Kroger the far south end of C.S. on Hwy 6, that was taking I45 to Conroe, 105 to Navasota, and Hwy 6 on up. Course it was dark so it was 60-65 all the way. If there's a quicker way could you let me know?

I don't believe that Nick drives quite the speed limit. We go to College Station on a semi regular basis and it takes about an hour maybe a bit more. If anyone is intrested in a road trip to Champions someday let me know.

Actually I wasn't thinking straight - its about 45 or so from navasota (my hometown more or less) so its about an hour and some change from here. I get the times mixed up still even though I've been in the brazos valley for 10 or so years now.

If you guys come, come this week. I leave friday to go to a missionary training program at an organization in Oklahoma City. I'll still be online, but won't be able to see you guys for a LOOOOOONG time. We can shoot and go grab dinner or something.

Also - from spring - Take 45 -> 242 -> 1488 -> 1774 -> 105 -> Hwy 6

This route I just listed is the Hypotenuse of the traingle fromed by 45 and 105...or....in plain english...this is the straightest line between to points.

If y'all wanna do this PM me or email me and we can get something going.

-nick

PS - if you come up here on a semi regular basis why hasn't my phone been ringing?
