And that goes right back to the fact that Laws don't deter crime, they punish it. The punishment is supposed to be the deterrent, however, when someone like that walks in someplace with the intention of killing themselves after the deed has been done.... well, it's fair to say that they aren't deterred by anything.

Well stated by both of you.

CBSNews slant on this story is to transition from Kostric right into more talk of the "rise of the militia movement" ... http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/08/12 ... ontentBody" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

amazing to me how when liberals control the White House, our executive branch is very concerned with "domestic terrorism" (basically Americans) whereas when conservatives are in control, "international terrorism" is the big threat.

So if you're a liberal, you fear your own people want to kill you
If you're a conservative, you fear outsiders want to kill you

I'll let everyone draw their own conclusions from the above observations.

So, if Mr Obama comes to texas or one of the other many concealed carry states, we should all disarm around him?

I was just talking to a co-worker and the Chris Matthews nuttiness came up and this person (who owns a gun) said that they guy (the law abiding citizen) sounded like a nutjob!?!?!

I did a double take and asked what exactly was "nuts" about his actions? In NH open carry is perfectly legal. He is a law abiding citizen. Now granted, the sign he was carrying could've been a little different (in retrospect as that was all Chris "had" on him). He was well within his rights to open carry. Further, it is a 2nd amendment right to carry.

She gave the "ok, yea," look, so I changed subjects, but it really surprises me because I know that she got this "view" from watching the so called news. It is disturbing how this yahoos in the media abuse their power to sell news.

Ok, off the soapbox.

Another case now where someone was arrested by USSS with gun in vehicle. person on another board is saying they have to be licensed to have a weapon in vehicle-seems counterintuitive to me with open carry. Anyone have information or a link to what the correct law is?

Anyone consider that this guy might have been using Jefferson's quote about watering the tree of liberty with blood in a figurative sense? Surely liberals, who are vastly more sophisticated and nuanced than us mere uneducated rednecks in flyover country, understand figurative language.

Bringing guns to political events may become a new trend, and I think it could be a positive one. However, there is a danger here and that is that could provide an opportunity for the media idiots to galvanize support for more gun control.
