I read it as he was in the right hand lane and the other guy was in the left, sitting on his left shoulder, so to speak. I could be wrong, of course.

I wanted to stop and tell him that the left lane is for passing only when on the open road but I was afraid he would start shooting at me since I was wearing a ski mask.
