I'm sorry, I didn't realize.

How does this sound?

8 - 11 - Charles - The Texas Self Defense and Deadly Force Law Seminar
11-11:15 - Break
11:15-12:15 - Steve - Awareness
12:15-1:15 - Lunch on your own (there are tons of restaurants in the immediate area)
1:15-2:45 - Steve - Concealed Carry - How To Clinic
2:45-3 - Break
3-4:30 - Donna - Ladies Self Defense Informational Seminar
4:30-4:45 - Break
4:45 - 5:45 - Donna - Ladies Issues
5:45 - 6 - Wrap up, promotional, whatever.

The only problem with this is that, if you're driving from Houston, this is going to be one unbelievably long day. If you're willing, I think I can get it set up. If you could drive up on Friday and stay the night, it would be much easier on you guys. I'd bet we have some forum members that would be thrilled to put you up.

Where in the DFW is this event being planned?

I'm working on getting an auditorium at UTD. I work there. If you don't know where UTD is, it's a mile or so west of US 75 off of Campbell Road. The address is 800 West Campbell Road, Richardson, 75080.

We might be better off to offer three seminars: Self-Defense & Deadly Force; Awareness, and Ladies Issues. Trying to add the other two is going to make it a very long day, not only for the speakers but the audience as well. Plus, I will have to modify the Concealed Carry - How To clinic/seminar from its current "CHL Fashion Show" format and that's going to take a while.

We could do this with or without a lunch hour, but with breaks. If we do take a lunch hour, then we could add a 30 to 45 minute panel discussion with Donna, Steve and I fielding questions from the audience. An alternative to the panel discussion would be for me to give a legislative update and discuss the prospects and agenda for the 2011 Texas Legislative Session.

What do you think of this format?
Chas.

The only problem with UTD would be the non-chl friendliness of a University. :(
otherwise.. Go Comets..

Think of it as experiencing what some of our children experience every day as they attend Universities all over the State. Fortunately, UTD is in a fairly nice area and violent crime is minimal around there. My son attends University of Houston School of Law every day and that place is surrounded by violent crime.

The possible UTD location is because someone at UTD stepped up and is doing the leg work to make that location available. There's a lesson there somewhere.

I think one issue is getting a venue large enough to accommodate folks from all over the metroplex at a reasonable price. Being able to use a place like UTD auditorium is actually pretty cool. That place is not only in a very nice neighborhood but it is big enough and nice enough o accommodate a fairly large crowd. With 190 being open now, going from Ft. Worth to Dallas is a pretty quick trip. I make that drive quite often.

Something I don't get. What is it with fellers from Ft. Worth area posting on here as if they are somehow afraid of Dallas...LOL. I have quite a few friends all over that part of the world and none of them have this fear. is this just something common to this thread or is it just that the couple dozen folks I know from the mid cities are weird? Quite frankly, the crime is about the same all over these areas and the traffic is no better in one area than the other. There are neighborhoods in the entire metroplex that are better than others.... both in Ft Worth and Dallas. Pretty funny stuff I am reading on this thread.

Thank you for all the population stats on DFW vs. Houston.

I love stats, especially when someone else lays them right out
there for the perusing. :-)
