I don't know about the rest of y'all, but the next time I go on a "blind date"; we will probably meet for lunch...in the daylight (I've met enough 'nice personalities' and seen enough 'pigs in a poke'). Inasmuch as we're both seasoned adults, she'll have her getaway vehicle and I'll have mine. I'll be packin' and will assume she is too.

If the lunch thinghy works out, we'll think about going out after dark in one truck. I'll still be packin' in the event that she gets too frisky.
Just make sure it is a gun and not a small canister of WalMart pepper spray. You aren't licensed and certified to use the latter, and it wouldn't be justifiable force to pepper spray a person trying to rape you.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I wasn't talking about the young woman, I was talking about this guy with his interesting vehicle mods, without which the police probably wouldn't have questioned him for more than half an hour on the side of the road, nor arrested him for the large OC canister.

I don't recall TCD mentioning the size of his friend's pepper spray, but if she bought it at Walmart it's likely smaller than the one in my pic.
I remember when that case happened, and I started a thread about it then. See here... viewtopic.php?f=7&t=29546&hilit=pepper+spray#p341551" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This was basically a fishing trip by the LEOs. They thought the jet-ski on his trailer looked "unusual", and might have been stolen. Personally, I don't see how that's probable cause to pull him over -- but at any rate, once it was settled that it wasn't, he should have been released with an apology from the LEO. Instead they kept him there for some 40 minutes, looking for something, ANYTHING, that might be amiss. And finally had to make something up to arrest him. He's out thousands of $$. The Wylie's police chief said the system worked! Not in my book it didn't.

Texas CHL Forum is one of the LAST places I would expect to see the "blame the victim" mentality.
I am not saying what the aggressor did is acceptable or justified. My personal belief could be know if anyone Google what Muslims believe about dating and what comes with it. A wise person does not put oneself like prey in harms way.
Dating is the "normal" method of meeting others in the US. Pre-arranged marriage by parents are considered unusual in the US.

Dating can also be hazardous, and it appears to me that the young lady realized this as it was probably not sheer coincidence that she bought pepper-spray on that very day.

Most of my female friends are smart enough to date in groups, bringing at least one friend along with her known and trusted bf/date.

I'm rethinking how I do things too. I've always preferred to pick a girl up at her house. I try to plan a great night in advance and some girls like for guys to make all the decisions. I think from now on I"ll be meeting girls at the location. I'll also be carrying a tape recorder with me.

Back in the day, the guy would come to the house and meet the parents. The girl's parents would ask stupid and embarrassing questions like, "where are you going" and "when do you expect to be back" and "where do you go to school or work", etc.?

The gir's parents would actually act like they cared for the daughter's safety and well-being and the guy would actually act like he had some manners. How dumb is that? SHEEZ!

:iagree: and I'd think the girl's parents would like to know where she's going and with whom; especially, if she's still living at home and off her parents.

Now, if the girl is mature enough to have set out on her own, she is out on her own and sets her own standards for social intercourse.

BTW, I never had any daughters, I just happen to be an expert on women "rlol" .

I hope he's smart enough to let the police take care of it.

If he goes after the guy himself, he's the aggressor and the guy is allowed to defend himself.

I"m not 100% but I believe he is ex law enforcement or had something to do with law enforcement. He is in a different county though but he knows who to contact to get things done.

"Failed to come to a complete stop at the sign, and resisted arrest."

"Violated random obscure and ridiculous city ordinance, and resisted arrest."

When she lived at home, my daughter was required to have the boy meet me before going out. After the initial meet and greet, she'd get me aside and ask: "Well?" I'd give a thumbs up (guy has potential) or thumbs down (you're wasting your time, but have a nice date).

In the latter case, I'd usually get a : "Daaaad!"

Then, a couple days or a week later, she'd say: "How'd you know?"

All her dates knew the line of work I was in, so they kind of self screened and none of them were of a type I wouldn't let her go out the door with.
