A lot depends on your experience, education, certifications, skills, etc. The less you have to offer an employer, the harder it can be to find a job, in good times and bad.
Everyone has to make their own choices and deal with the consequences of their choices.

We've been actively hiring where I work. We get a lot of applicants but not very many have been what we're looking for.

Great! Spread that good news to those who are looking for a job or to otherwise change occupations.

In this case your employer can take legal action as well as firing you huh?

A hand gun locked in your car will not be much help if a crazed gunman enters the building and takes hostages as in the recent Discovery Channel incident. I’m not saying you should break the rules but as others have mentioned times are hard and a growing number of people are losing everything they have. I believe you will see more people coming unhinged along with fewer cops on the streets. Unless there is a 30.06 sign or I am traveling to a state that does not recognize my CHL I carry all the time. I would rather risk my job then my life. Besides the boss would have to give me a hug in order to detect my handgun and that is highly unlikely.

Pawpaw do you own one of these products? If so how do you like it?
I would hate to spend my hard earned cash on a hunk of junk.

I own both, but haven't installed them yet.
The Console Vault is very well built out of thick gauge metal with a crinkle coat finish and has a substantial spring-loaded hinge. As soon as you unlock it, it opens and stays that way until you close & re-lock it. I prefer the keyed lock (round key) over the 3-digit combination lock.
The BioBox is less substantial, but will slow down a thief. It opens very easily and reliably. The hinge is also spring-loaded.
The Console Box is a "hidden & secure storage" container. The BioBox is more of a "fast access" container & should be enough to deter a "smash & grab" thief.
I hope this helps.

Thanks pawpaw! I will look into the BioBox. It will make my feel more comfortable having a hot gun in the house around my kiddos.
