Well, since I am currently vegan (for health reasons... not political of personal), I will indulge with my past loves...
Favorite foods? Braised beef short ribs, PORK of any kind (if it oinked I will eat it or any part of it), Lengua, cheeks, CHORIZO, anything that swims, Chef Boyardee Ravioli's straight from the can.
Least Favorite Foods? My line of work insists that I try everything. I really don't have a least favorite.
Dying to try? Fugu... Puffer Fish... I gotta try it...
Favorite Restaraunts? No real favorites... I usually critique too much when I go out to eat, but I do love me some Austin trailer food...

I know what you mean about health reasons.
I just got back from going over the results of my blood work at the Doctors office.
It seems that all the things I loved eating over the years are coming back to haunt me.
It's a good thing I like salads.

You can do way better than salads! The tamales I posted above have no cholesterol, among other things. And tasted awesome.

Yes, I know. I had a long talk with the Nurse Practitioner about healthy alternatives to all the "bad for ya foods", and even small changes that can make a positive difference. I'm going to have to make some changes, but I also
want to make some changes.
Funny thing..When she was going over the list of all the bad foods, I was thinking "yum".

Every now and then I do. That would be good.
C-dub wrote:Hey Pucker, ever shoot at Bass Pro?
I might like to try that Burritos Locos place with you sometime after a shoot. I wonder if anyone else in the area might be up for an afternoon out like that?

C-dub: I'd think you'd get plenty of interest if you posted a thread for a DFW meet-up with shooting and food. :)

This health talk is starting to make a good food thread sound bad. Lol.
I would be down with eating after a shooting session. I usually do.
Hey cheffie! How about those vegan recipes? I know you don't eat vegan tv dinners all the time!

Those vegan TV dinners like Amy's are really high in sodium.

There's always
Health Camp in Waco for when you want a break from them.

Or
Spiral Diner & Bakery in Fort Worth or Dallas.
Closer to home, you can pick up coconut yogurt and coconut ice cream at many neighborhood grocery stores, and they're delicious and vegan.
Here are a few vegan recipes I like. If it calls for butter, I use a vegan margarine. If it calls for a meat bouillon or broth, I use a good quality/low sodium veggie alternative. If it calls for milk, I use either rice, oat, almond, or hemp milk or mimiccreme depending on the food.
Herbed Lentils and Rice
Easy Masoor Daal
Moroccan Lentil Soup
Tortilla Stew
Vegetable Biryani
Vegetable Shepherd's Pie (we leave out the cheese and add extra beans)
Crispy Vegetable Pakoras
Mexican Bean Pie
Chili Potato Burritos (great w/o cheese, but vegan cheese can also be used)
Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips
Winter Fruit Compote
Sauteed Apples
Squash and Apple Bake
Sweet Corn Tomalito
Apricot Glazed Carrots
Baked Sweet Potatoes with Ginger and Honey
One I haven't tried yet but want to:
Okra Gumbo

Favorite foods? Meat. Beef - any cut of cow, chicken - dark meat, lamb - rack of and leg, pig - yes, Wild game of any kind except armadillo (leprosy), any seafood except tilapia (fish poo eater), veggies.
Least Favorite Foods? Grains, potatoes, rice, sugar, soy, tofu, pasta.
Dying to try? Not much. Pretty much tried everything.
Favorite Restaraunts? Willie G's, Perry's (yummm...pork chop), Anyplace that serves a good rib eye rare seared. I like them twitchin!
I do not eat chinese, thai, vietnamese, anything associated with this genre at all. Period. I'll starve first. Maybe eat my rigtht arm instead.
Anygun (in his best Sam Elliot voice impersonation) Beef. Its what's for dinner.

Thanks Hoi! I work for Whole Foods

I don't always eat frozen dinners. I usually grab something from work... gotta love the discount :)

Sweet! My husband and I go on dates at Whole Foods.

I get a cherry vanilla soda or a metromint water, which are my WF splurges. But I've been avoiding WF because they won't order the Field Roast meatloaf or the mimmiccreme for me despite more than a year of very polite asking, calling, and writing AND their only vegan cake now uses a soy-based icing instead of the delicious jam it once had and they won't do anything about that, either.

Hoi, that is a bummer that you can't get the stuff you want at WF. Which store? I can get you information to talk to people directly if you want.
