Sorry, but after reading all of your replies I still think the guy deserved what he got. If you run from the police and endanger everyone around you by doing so and end up getting some swift punishment before trial, I'm not going to feel sorry for you.
I understand I'm in a minority of 1 here, but so be it

I personally believe that you are absolutely wrong, but I am glad that we get to see all sides of the spectrum on this forum. Your contribution is appreciated.

Sticking with what you believe is a admirable trait however...
I wonder if you would feel the same if you or one of your family members were hit with a LEOs club for going over the speed limit or not signaling before a lane change.
You were endangering everyone around you after all.

It's not an issue of feeling sorry for the guy or not. The Chief believes it is a violation of Department policy, the DA and Grand Jury believe it is a violation of the laws of the State of Texas, and perhaps we'll see if the Feds believe it is a violation of the Constitution of the US though I doubt it'll get to that point.

There's a mighty big difference between not signaling before a lane change and flat out running from the police bud.
I agree, which is why my hypothetical lane change crime only has a single strike with club. Not a full blown beating; Sir.
