The wait begins!

Dropped my packet off at DPS today. Watching the clock as of now!

Two weeks from DPS receiving application to web update:

• 9 February: DPS received paperwork.
• 23 February: website shows Background Check under review.
• 16 March: website shows Background Check completed and CHL manufacturing pending.
• 18 March: website shows CHL mailed.
• 23 March: CHL received.

I had a CHL for eight years, but I let it lapse. This is my penance!

Greetings, all. I'm posting my timeline in here after posting in the DPS Processing Time thread to be more official with the February apps.

2/6 - Class
2/13 - Online application
2/16 - Fingerprinting
2/17 - Mailed in paperwork
2/22 - "Paperwork received" status

I'm expecting mine to take a little longer than the really quick times since I'm a naturalized citizen and I've only lived in Texas for the past 1.5 years. After living in CA and NJ, Texas is a really welcomed change of attitude.

Took the class on 1/29/11
Online application 1/30/11
Fast Fingerprinting 2/2/11
Mailed by Certified mail 2/2/11
Mail delivered on 2/4/11
On-Line Status Updated 2/18/11
Background check complete 2/25/11

Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received

Citizenship : No documentation required

Now the waiting slows to a crawl.

Took the class yesterday. Did the online app about a week ago. Paperwork is being submitted in person by the instructor today.

While I am looking forward to getting the card, now I'm in a rush to find the right holster. Still trying to figure out if appendix or 4:30 work better for me IWB.

Similar here - I mailed everything & was fingerprinted on 1/28, first showed up online on 2/12, and background check finally went green today (2/25) - exactly 4 weeks after mailing.

I sent mine in the same time as you and I am still waiting for my Background to go clear. I have lived at the same residence practically my whole life and have a clean background, after all I am only 22. I think one thing holding me up is a few years ago I was selling guns at a local retailer and there was a background check performed on me then. I dont know if maybe that is a red flag but it's the only thing I can think of.

I'm about your age (21) and have a clean record. i received two traffic tickets almost a year ago that my attorney is still fighting. i wouldn't think that those are on my record, though.

Jeez guys we're still in February and your already trying to come up with delay excuses for the DPS. They've had your applications for around 20-25 days, they have till 60 days to issue.

Neither of the things either of you listed would be a reason at all to cause a delay. Did you ever think that they do these processes in bulk and even though you may have sent it in first, during the transfer from the PO BOX to the place they take it, your letter may now be on the bottom of that pile?

Most us December guys waited 40 + DAYS, some still are waiting.

So be patient there is no rhyme or reason to the order of issuing CHLs. As long as you have nothing on you(as you both stated), I would expect to see them issued in the next week or two as the DPS seems to have picked up speed since January.
