Right. As long as the primers and gun powder stays dry. It's not a question of whether or not the gun will fire while wet, but of how many times the gun will fire while wet. If you've put the marine spring cups on it, the Glock 17 (and
only the 17) can be repeatedly fired underwater. In general, however, that stunt will damage both the gun and you. I am not qualified to comment on how dry other guns need to be before you can safely fire them, but I can tell you that it's not something I worry about with my gun. I figure that as long as the barrel isn't blocked, it probably won't blow up on me, and any other damage sustained by saving my life is a price worth paying.
Jimney H. Crickets!!!! You left off the

Your primers and powder WON'T get wet! You don't know how many times a gun will fire wet??? I sure hope the fellers using them in war know that answer cause last time I checked, they don't make rain coats for weapons and rain does not cause a delay in action like at a baseball game. Like I said... any QUALITY weapon won't have a problem.

It worked in
Live Free or Die Hard.

As I recall, afterward, when asked why he'd shoot himself in the shoulder, John McClane said: "It seemed like a good idea at the time!"

If not real - ehh... so what, no biggie, just binary bits on e-space. For me it was logical enough because of my time spent in East Texas woods while working for an un-named Federal agency where I occasionally ran across some amped up knucklehead that told me flat out -- 'I could whip your (insert word) or just shoot you out here and no-one would know'. True enough...
DocSA wrote:...since I have the attention of some, I'll ask a question I maybe should already know, " How wet can a pistol get before it will not fire?" I do not mean swimming wet, but raining wet? Falling in a puddle wet? For those disbelievers, is there a holster available for my speedo? (The last one sarcastic, I know there are!)
Depends a lot on the gun and your ammunition. "Rain" wet however - any gun will (should) fire. Drop it in a puddle or go for a swim, I wouldn't bet on any gun (doesn't mean I wouldn't try if needed though). A revolver is going to strike the primer reliably as would a glock (and probably most other firearms) - but depending on how the ammunition is loaded and the primer sealed/not sealed - the ammunition may be the weak link IF in water long enough. Firing a gun with a snoot full of water may be a bad idea just in general. If my carry weapon was exposed to a bunch of rain - I'd clean it and replace the ammuntion with fresh stuff (shoot the other removed rounds the next time you are at the range). I've hunted in the rain and never had a problem - nowadays though i keep a box of latex gloves in the back and take a couple so that I can use the 'fingers' for a rain cover over the muzzle end. If you want to carry a Government 1911 in a speedo then get the big man size.
Welcome to the forum
DocSA - good folks on here, just be
patient...

I remember when that 'Glock Underwater' video was first posted on GlockTalk (that guy is a member of that forum) a few years ago, there were many postings worried that he might get into trouble with the authorities for discharging his firearm in his dwelling...

LOL! After having my rotator cuff repaired, I was thinking the same thing.
