I e-mailed DPS

Who fills out the Time allocation, the student or the instructor?
Can it be filled out in advance?

They replied:

It is up to you who fill this space out. If you choose to fill the time allocation in advance and you cover a subject in more or less time you will need to make correction on form.

Well, THAT does not sound like time "allocated" to me...

So, we're supposed to define "allocated" as "spent"? DPS needs to get their stuff together; say what they mean, mean what they say. Again, words mean things.

I don't think anyone is going to hold us to a stop watch. My plan is to fill out the CHL-100, based on my outline. I usually stick pretty close to the outline, and don't vary more than 15-30 minutes from that. If I do happen to run over, then I can adjust it at the end of the day.

I'm eager to see some communication from DPS. Throwing a form up on the website with no explanation, no effective date, etc., is not adequate.

I agree, a little pro-active communication would have warded off a whole lot of bad press. But, if you send them an email at CHLInstructors@dps.texas.gov, I bet they will respond.

I know, but even they must realize it's much easier to answer a question once, rather than 3,000 times.
