With speedsix and myself playful banter on and off list, I'm sure his "halo" comment to me was in jest.Oldgringo wrote:longtooth wrote:OK folks. Both sides need to get feelings off shoulders & stop the inuendo ridicule.

...that it was...(just woke up after a loooooooooong winter's nap)...absolutely zero amineusity between myself and my friend wgoforth...and I've been compared to either end of a mule often...no biggee...there may be a resemblance...RPB nailed the OP's answer so fast all the rest of us were left with was to pursue tangents... which we did vigorously, like bird dogs huntin' rabbits...
Re: wally world incident
Some commented that Wally World won't pursue you out the door/past the door. I knew I had read several accounts of employees chasing shoplifters in the parking lot over the years, but didn't comment. However, noticed this morn one such occuring here in Brownwood at the local Walmart where employees chased him in the parking lot. I don't know what official policy is, but do know it does happen, http://brownwoodnews.com/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=58" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: wally world incident
If I saw store security fighting with someone, my inclination would be to put distance between myself and the trouble . . . as well as some solid cover if possible.
As for receipt checking as you leave the store . . . if an employee asks to see it, I'll show it, but unless the checker is a badged & sworn LEO, I simply will not wait in line for the receipt check.

For Walmart and such I agree. For SAM'S you sign an agreement to so do. We have a choice of course to be members or not.HankB wrote:If I saw store security fighting with someone, my inclination would be to put distance between myself and the trouble . . . as well as some solid cover if possible.

Re: wally world incident
I no not, ever, shop at WalMart. The following story took place about 4 years ago in Tyler and is the reason for my abstinence.
I went into the local Wally World on a hot Texas August day to pick up some diabetes test strips (cheapest price anywhere at the time) and I was hungry I picked up 2 apples. As I was going through the doors, the loss prevention buzzers that read the magnetic codes imbedded in goods sounded off. A little girl maybe old enough to drive, not vote, came over and looked in the sack and at the receipt--strips and apples. As it is HOT, I have on cargo shorts, long tee shirt, and loafers (and of course a concealed firearm in my front right pocket. She calls over her supervisor and she looks at the sack and lo and behold--strips and apples. But when the strip buzzes a third time, they call an assistant manager. He is a little older, but I still have underwear older than him.
My blood pressure is 240 over 180 and I am hot, and not only from the summer heat. When the "kid in charge" walked up I explained through my clenched teeth that he had two choices: One I will strip necked right in this door where I stand; OR two, I am going to my truck, never to grace the doors of WalMart again . I spend my money where it is appreciated. Vote with your wallet.

Re: wally world incident
...common sense would have dictated that the employee ask you politely if she could kill the strip in the package with the instrument at the closest counter and let you go through...but Walmart puts common sense way down the list for new hires from chewing gum and walking at the same time...so they didn't think of that...much easier to detain and embarrass a customer who's spending his hard-earned money...maddening...
Re: wally world incident
six
I did not mention that they ran the strip package 2 more times over the reader. I do not care the reason, but I will not be called a thief over a $20 purchase, I paid cash for.
