Or send it back to Glock and hope they feel sorry enough for you that they replace the frame. I know if I was Glock I wouldn't want that thing out and about.

If you're looking for something reasonably priced you might actually give one of those American Tactical guns a try; I haven't had the opportunity to fire one, but after handling one of their Hi-Power clones, I gotta say they seem much more solidly built than I would've guessed.

I always thought the p92 was a darn pretty gun. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. for a begginer though, it is an easy gun for newbies to shoot accuratly. The 5 inch barrel doesn't hurt much.
For an old beater the Ruger p95 is a an ugly tank, and shoots pretty decently. Some might not be crazy about the trigger, but it will do the job and do it reliably. I've seen quite a few of them at pawn shops at decent prices. The p95 is my togo gun if I were only to have one handgun it would be my p95.
All and all though an old Glock might be the best choice for the simplicity of using it. Its simple reliable, and isn't as subject to limp wristing issues as some models.
Best of luck in choices.
